Got some windows in yesterday & & part of a beam up in the rest of the house - did I tell you that the house is bananna shaped?:rotfl:I kid you not.
Terrific feeling of actually getting somewhere after all the time of starting to feel we weren't.

So glad the house is coming together, choille.

Even if you are fitting it out later in the year, think about all that room? You can fling your arms around with cracking your knuckles on something.

    I've been Money Tipped!
This is not lostinrates but her DH. Her computer has a virus, she didn't want to leave everyone in limbo over Dog-Dog, who had an operation today. Dog-Dog is ok but she wasn't allowed home tonight. Lostinrates will be back on line nex week. Also she wanted to ask Alfie if it's ok if she collects the geese on Friday (hi Alfie!).

Thanks foundinrates. I'd noticed lir wasn't around, and I expect others did too. :)

Just a quick update to say that I think we shalll have some ********* by this afternoon, as DW, DD2 and a friend are going to see some in Cornwall this morning.....

So, last night at around 9pm we were making Peccadilly Circus Mk2. DW says it is now fox proof and I disagree, but DW doesn't want the new chooks in the orchard with the others for 3 weeks to guard against disease transfer. I think they will be OK if we put in a second barrier, say 2m from P Circus. We will see who wins! :D

In other news I planted comfrey yesterday in an area where I can't plant much else. Digging there, I think the previous owner laid scalpings, then changed their mind and put soil over them, or it may have been the orignal field entrance. Either way, it will not be on my urgent list for improvement! :(

And I thought you were going to concentrate on the growing and planting. Instead your cornering the market in Australorps :p

Satisfying day yesterday. Picked the strawbs and blackcurrants that hadnt been taken by the blackbirds and helped DW (a bit anyhow) to make another 20lb of jam. Then netted the blueberries thoroughly.

Got one more blackcurrant bush to do, will tackle that Thurs when weather improves.

    Hi all

sorry i havent been around, but have been busy....

we decided as we were not getting any closer to moving to somewhere with land, we would use our money to put odwn on a B.T.L. property, to try and make our money work for us, found a house, mortgage broker is just about ready to put hte mortgage application in, for an agreement in principle, and we had another bomb shell dropped on us yesturday..

The developers have only submitted diff plans, so their lorry holding bay ( while they are waiting to go to the unloading bay, is right in front of houses:eek: I have been crying all day, and feeling physically sick..... talk about no regard for our quality of life.... we will def not be able to sell our houses....

I am getting sooooooooo stressed out i honestly feel as though i am just about to lose control, and have a breakdown.... just feel so sick..

i am putting a link to the plans, scroll down to near-ish the bottom, and have a look for the 'autotrack results site plan.... our houses are just on the left, off the main roundabout,

you will prob have to enlarge the file to see the layout properly.

I will delete the link later...

How the heck can they get away with this....

Just wish i could just walk away.... and get out of this ...whats turning out to be a nightmare...

I'm afraid I can only offer a dodgy MSE cyberhug CTC...:grouphug:
...and words of encouragement to hang in there.

I've always said that you have something the developers want and that one day, when the economy starts picking up a bit, it will suit them to make an offer for your place. They will be easier to sell to than the average Joe. One look at that site map says to me there's more development waiting to happen, all around, but maybe right now isn't the time.;)

On the subject of BTL, do take advice from the house buying & selling forum. Rentals are in demand in many areas, but the sums work best when there's a realistic expectation that the value of the property will rise. You need the capital to cope with voids and bad tenants too, or it could be a disaster. I'm not going to say more than that, 'cos I'm not experienced in the area and there are plenty of others who are better equipped to help you.

Whatever you do, don't keep it to yourself :naughty: come on here and have a good rant! :)

Really sorry CTC - not good.

Get on to your local councillor.

Would you consider renting out where you are & using that rent to buy somewhere else - is that poss? Will the builders need accomadation? Could you charge per room? Not very helpful of me but don't know what else to say.

its a good idea, but in all honesty our house is falling down:o needs new roof, new windows new pine end etc, it needs approx 15 - 20k spent on it to bring it back upto to standard...

Thanks DAVESNAVE.... I know eventually somewhere down the line, the new owners/developers will want to buy our houses, but its the nightmare of what is going to happen between now and then....

Ask them to make you an offer, or stick it on the market at a higher than you expect price.

OH says that there is a policy of noise abatement at night & their chiller units on their lorries have to be switched off.
You could argue that they will make most of their deliveries at night & what you certainly don't want is lorries parked up at night with their chiller units running.

Was there an impact study done on the neighbouring (yours) properties?
