Poor dog-dog will probably cope better than any of us imagines, lir.
I think you have identified the main danger period, which is when she thinks she's better.
Almost calm here this morning. Some people have been having an all-night rave about a mile away, but I guess it might easily be two miles if the sound system is a good one!0 -
Got this mental image of Dave & Lir in the new TV show "Live a life in the country" With the subplot of the relationship, like Phil and Kirsty, simmering below the surface.
And Alfie with "Off Grid Tails", a madcap sitcom about a girl and her horses in the New Forest.
Anyhow, this rain again isnt too funny, teeming down. Really messing up the soft fruit harvest. And to sour the mood even more getting really hacked off with some ebay buyers (term used loosely). Opening an unpaid case today against one bidder, while another bidder has just withdrawn bids on 7 items with the excuse in each case of wrong amount entered
And its that time of the year when you want to go to bed before the chooks do
You can block the miscreants as you don't need the wind up from them - have you 'trod on anyone's toes?' Sold similar items as the bidder withdrawers?0 -
....Only if you can convince the powers that be that the New Forest is in Scotland, you're living in an extremely rural area... and then it's only a maybe based on income, or the colour of your kilt.....:D
I didn't get a grant for our reduced electric supply but what I did do was challenge the quote & I got a lot off.
Presently Scottish Power are looking to cut through my apportionemnt with new power lines & they want to put them below ground & I think I may try & to a deal - where by they upgrade my supply to a full one in compensation for disturbance.
Got some windows in yesterday & & part of a beam up in the rest of the house - did I tell you that the house is bananna shaped?:rotfl:I kid you not.
Terrific feeling of actually getting somewhere after all the time of starting to feel we weren't.
Today is raining - so the weather was in our favour yesterday - dry, with a breeze - no midg:Ties.
Feel tired but happy & as it's hissing down - not guilty to be lolling about.0 -
LIR - Sorry to hear about the dog - hope it makes a good recovery - poor thing.0

Alfie, I take it there is no option of you having off grid solar pv with battery pack and genny back up? Cant remember how far you took this with the planners, surely they would allow solar roof tiles, that way you'd get FITs as well as leccy.
Lir, so sorry about your dog, know shes in good hands.
Choille, yes, reported the bid retractor who has serious form in that regard. Doesnt seem related to any other auctions but who knows.
Up at crack of dawn for a car boot, good day with lots of bulky stuff shifted. But a 6:30-2pm solo shift is hell without a loo nearbyand totally knackered when back home.

We had one near here today that I wanted to visit as a buyer, but despite getting up for the chooks, I was back in the land of nod again by 6.15am. On waking some time after eight, I had a temporary lapse of memory and panicked, thinking I'd forgotten to let them out.
Anyway, having slept in, I decided not to go near the sale, but rather make the best of the weather and get those tunnel foundations done. One side is complete now, and as the other side will be much easier, we could be on the frame in a week or so.Let's see what the weather does....
So pleased to hear you are making real progress, choille. Must be great to see it all taking shape at long last. Banana shaped, eh?
The only shape you don't want is pear-shaped! :cool:0 -
CHOILLE ....i am so pleased for you both, in that you can see your house rising before your eyes...i bet you are excited each morning looking at it !:)
DAVESNAVE....may try wearing tartan when i go see NFNP !!:D
to all else whos dreams however big or small are starting to take shape...well done. :T

Well Alfie - Have a word with anyone in your area that had to get a supply - sounds like they maybe need to do an upgrade of the transformer & next one in will take the heavy fee of that? Possibly?
I really did haggle them down by a few thousand pounds. I couldn't believe their original quote.
I think we had this conversation a while back. When I feel less knuckered I'll put my thinking cap on & also speak with OH who'se snoring away.
Listed loads for ebay & was even taking photos outside in the dark - long story!
Turned into a really cold, damp day.
Rhiwfield - glad you reported them - pain in the nether regions some folks. Goodness your bladder is in good health. I think I'd of been under table with a spare pot or pan!
I used to do market stalls in a prevous life & know all about how tricky it can be solo as you say.
We are miles off from any car boot sales but I would like to go to one - but not at the moment.
