Poor Alfie, attacked by geese then the goslings go walkabout :(

Well, my garden looks a bit greener for the rain. Sadly, most of the green is weeds. the huge piles of logs in the back garden are hidden my thigh high grass, rape and sticky weed and the lawn is a mess.

Planning applications have hit a snag (even in our non contentious application! ) because I want to change one wall of a barn from having two access points to one, (necessary for proposed internal layout). This is a modern steel framed and breeze block structure, not one of the old ones. (all my neigh bours told me to just do it and not apply! Its not a neighbour issue, but a planning dept one.) Three people are working on our application and looking at other applications in its hard not to get ranting about ''public sector'' employees light work load, penchant for bearocracy and lack of understanding about their work. Know what you mean - when the LBO listed my friend's "!Victorian farm house", she suggested they read the date stone over the front door and correct it. About a hundred years out!

Oh Lord.. Stoat? Weasel? I don't know much about those, but I know they can wreak havoc. A terrible loss, but at this time of year, with young to feed, adult predators take risks. That's why I'll be glad when the hay's cut here and the cover is gone.

And there's not much chance of that right now. As I type, the rain is still hammering straight down, as it's a windless evening. However, I'm glad the worst of it held off, because DW & I had to go to a funeral near Llanelli today, which was a bit of a trek.....and with no tea break at the Outlaws, because they're close to the Glastonbury chaos. :(

Not much to report here, except that I bet our weeds could win some Olympic growth medals too, lir.

Oh and on the subject of Planning Depts, Conservation Officers & the like.....well... you probably saw my rant on the other channel! (For everyone else, my BIL had a notice the other week where all the compass points were reversed e.g west side of the house was east, and so on. I told him to appeal on the grounds of living in an alternative reality, but I think he's found something better. :))

Alfie dear thing, I've cleared space.

We went out earlier after ''doing'' the chickens for the freezer and just back.

Have to say, I'm glad our grass is gone for just that reason. Plus, heard from a neighbour today he had a breakin and machinery nicked last week and over a bit further there has been a fair bit of rustling. :( The other thing, with all this rain, there might be something for a second cut, you never know. More interested in topping the thistles. about 3 acres of the winter grazing is pure thistle atm. :( Don't want to spray if we do this soil association thing as it sets us back twelve months.

How is everyone doing? I was shocked to hear that the heatwave is becoming so serious, up here we have had almost nothing but rain for months.

Did the goslings ever get found?

    How is Lori feeling?

:o:o:o As I am now on holiday I decided to face the garden and the grass at the side is waist high :o:o:o

I really will need to get to grips with the garden but every time I try to go out to do something the rain starts pouring down, long term forecast is for endless rain, so much for summer
