CTC I am so sorry to hear that the situation is getting worse, I don't have anything useful to suggest but I just want you to know that we are all here to listen and to support in any way we can.

I hope everyone else is doing well, not had time to read much of the thread as crazy busy at the moment. No time for gardening atm although hoping to catch up with things over the holidays!

Sorry CTC to hear things are so difficult for you. Wish I could be of more help or use! I know it's upsetting right now, but I hope that things will improve. Have a good old shout and cry if you want/need to - in my experience it does seem to help when life is hard. Of course YMMV! ;)

I just updated on the House Renovation thread with pics of the glass and steel balustrade and oak banister if any of you are interested. You can read here.

We had roast lamb with mint sauce for tea tonight, with home grown Charlotte potatoes. They were ones that volunteered in the grow bags we didn't manage to harvest last year! :j They were very tasty. :)

That's a smart staircase maggie; just the job for grandchildren with sticky mitts!:D The house has come on a treat, and I know it took a lot of work to sort it out.:)

Our ****** are here, and very different they are too. The 3 birds settled down immediately and seem totally laid-back. I won't tell you what they cost, but it came to roughly the same as my big supermarket shop today. (Yes, that's right, DW and DD go off on a jaunt to get hens and I go shopping!) It's just as well that DW has been earning a few pennies for herself lately!

I'll post some pictures in a day or two. ;)

I'm here, but it's only just got dark(ish), so chooks to tuck in and all that....But I was here earlier and you weren't here then! Absolutely deserted it was.....:(

Well done for catching Lori. I only once caught a horse and that was about 50 years ago when I was sweet on this girl......:o Anyway, it stood on my foot, and I decided there & then no girl was worth that amount of pain! :rotfl:

Here's a piccy of our new additions. Must admit they don't look much ATM, but apparently their parents are stunning.

They are so different from the other birds we have, being calm, quiet and confident; not at all like the raucous lot over in the main pen! I think they will make good garden birds, being heavy like Orpingtons and not very destructive. Anyway, unlike the last batch of Welsummers, they know what a dust bath is and how to perch, which is a good start. Vocally they're a bit odd, but hey, they're from Australia, after all! :D

Well done you! A mini victory! One of my horses was terrible for napping and I remember going on a long ride backwards as it was the only way I could get her to move, we got some incredibly funny looks :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Glad you caught yer hoss Alfie.
Lovely hens Dave - they look a bit like my Orps - 'Specially with the green sheen.
Saddles arrived for the hens so managed to fit one on Mrs Teddy the buff Orp. She didn't like it at first, but seems to be getting used to it.

Spent the evening painting windows without getting too bitten by midges. Didn't come in until 10.30 & it's still pretty light out there ,but jiggered now.

Picked a couple of pounds of blackcurrants earlier - hopefully will get some more some once they ripen.
  • Quick read & catch up..

Been a hectic week all round, with it culminating in my youngest's Leavers Day at school this morning. Then he's off to his Prom tonight followed by an After-Prom Party being held at his Dad's (mug!)

Will catch up properly later, but now off to pick up 1500 glow-sticks, a btl of helium gas for the balloons and tie on 250 strings to the whistles Jack wanted! I'm on 'bouncer' duty tonight and providing lifts to the top of the lane to keep the Police happy that there won't be hoards of tipsy teenagers staggering up and down a relatively busy, but remote country lane all night.

    Must be bonkers!

There will be lots of , a bit of , no doubt some  and in the morning.. :o and
