evening all
i seem to have been "off grid" in more ways than one !! i have been so tired by the evening, iv read all your exploits and felt i didnt have much to contribute !!
i had the farrier today which left me [and him] looking like drowned rats..... managed to get 4 out of 8 done..[not done are ,2 are up to date and 2 are ruby and lori who are brats...] i swear they are just playing with both my patience and stamina...
well lori is getting his manacles removed next week so we will see if he's still laughing then....
ruby ?...is ruby....i expect to report that shes been A..caught B..rideable by 2020....:o
BF brush cut all around mabels electric fencing yesterday and removed the 5ft undergrowth within...the lazy fat lump just lay in her house, head poking out snoring while he toiled.... BF made various comments ie..if she wasnt fed so much she might eat this down ! and when i went over and was feeding her grapes as she lay there he nearly brush cut me ???:D
we have LOADS of apples on the 5 trees over there ! eaters and cookers...
we have had rain all week, sometimes accompanied by winds that are trying to make up thier mind which direction to blow in ....:(
im off to a horse show on sunday... purely to see and pay the owner for the mini [one of our fosters] we have bought:o she just got a 4th at the bath and west show and was going up for sale....the rest is history:rotfl:
i have taken in two cats that need rehoming and my friend will [i hope] have them...:D
LIR... your goosegogs could be ready soon but they will need heat ???
well folks, the man in the white coat is waiting to take me away so me finks i will retire before he finds me....:rotfl:0 -
Always good to get animal stuff done.
We'll be shearing soon & all that - well I get someone to do it - which is bad of me but I don't think my back could take it.
Still half-light outside -makes me insomniac.0 -
you ought to set up a business finding places for people to view...have a check list then cross reference and hey ho:)
There's a serious point in here.....somewhere!;)
People searching for a place with a bit of land, whether it's a very big garden or some acres, mostly start with check lists of essentials and desirables.
But beyond that, because viewing at distance is so blooming expensive in £ and time, it's important to let the computer do much of the footwork. That's where a few skills in map reading & aerial photo interpretation really score. Sometimes, other things, like the Environment Agency's flood mapping system might also come into play. There's Streetview now as well, and while it might not go to the place you're researching, it will show what the general area's like. UpMyStreet is good for that too - gives an Acorn socio-economic profile. Parents will maybe want to check out the local schools' Ofsted reports etc etc.
Old planning applications can also be searched, so you can see what your potential neighbours have had done....or what the present owner has had refused. Ceredigion, for example, has a fantastic map resource for this....much larger scale than Bing too. I think it goes back about 30 years.
.....But mostly it boils down to something like:
"Cor, this one looks cheap.....Oh, thought so.....bloody pylons!":rotfl:0 -
Got this mental image of Dave & Lir in the new TV show "Live a life in the country" With the subplot of the relationship, like Phil and Kirsty, simmering below the surface.
And Alfie with "Off Grid Tails", a madcap sitcom about a girl and her horses in the New Forest.
Anyhow, this rain again isnt too funny, teeming down. Really messing up the soft fruit harvest. And to sour the mood even more getting really hacked off with some ebay buyers (term used loosely). Opening an unpaid case today against one bidder, while another bidder has just withdrawn bids on 7 items with the excuse in each case of wrong amount entered
And its that time of the year when you want to go to bed before the chooks do0 -
I've got heat for the geese! Setting up lights is fine0

davesnave, re grass....ours has gone (for silage). I definitely need to buy a small bale baler. Hay will probably go for upwards of £4 a bale this year and I wish I was selling it.0

It'll be interesting to see what the yield is here this year. If the price is up, I shall want more logs or pork than last year!
We keep the chickens on woodchip/shavings, so not a lot of use for hay. Woodchip is often free from our source; in fact we're stockpiling it ATM.0 -

Wish I could buy hay at that!
I started to try & tidy up the side of the track - best grass on the croft - nearly. What a waste. I should try & dry it.
Builders here again & the upstairs & downstairs kitchen windows are going in - Yipee, hoopla, screaming with sheer joy as it is starting to look like a proper house.
I painted the window yesterday that's going in high but it's still sticky - don't buy Berger paint, it runs & is hard to get a good cover with it.
Well back off out to stand & stare with me mouth open.0 -
davesnave.... i rest my case... people would pay good money to have that info about an area they are interested in ! saves them driving round like headless chooks....DO IT !
just work it like a profile report back to them with pics and facts...0 -
