Mine are still sitting in 8" pots, along with many other pots, all waiting for me to get off my backside and finish my revamped south facing growing area, which I will do this weekend so they can go into their final growing positions.

I have some home made compost left, and a small amount of well rotted manure, so will add a bit of that too.
And I like the plastic water diverter idea :T thank you.

Lovely photos rhiwfield - eevryone seems so organised compared to me!
Very cold, uck day. Brought brooder in to caravan so wee chicks cheeping away on the table - cats ignorin them - amazingly. Got the stove lit so nice & cosy as the rain lashes down.
Mother hen & 8 chicks ensconsed in new quarters & own pen.
Had to lift a chick that as left out from under her last night & obviously suffering hyporthermia. Warmed in OH's hand & then placed in brooder & it came round fine - just as well found it when I did.

I feel jiggered. neighbours' garden looking great for them coming back - mine a disaster zone!

My back seems to be screaming.
Had to lift in another chick from her Mum - think putting two imposters in was a mistake & two now off her & in the brooder with their noisey mates.
Really chilly wind & very heavy showers again - more like traditional weather!
Joiner friend of OH phoned & will appear tomorrow to advise us & possibly come & give us a weekend hand next weekend - fingers & toes crossed.
Quite a few of my ebay items end today & a few will sell - not massive amounts, a few quid here, a couple of quid there - this will go towards wood for yet another coop.

Tried to help a chick out of its shell - never works.............it's been struggling for 24 hours & the membrane seemed stuck to it. Don't think it'll survive.

OH away to airport to bring neighbours back from hols - they'll feel the chill. I'm feeling the chill - so they will freeze!

i have in the past very carefully drizzled warm water into the shell [away from head] and this has helped them out of shell if stuck...doesnt always work but gives em a chance!!:)
iv just returned from my "stint" at the railway... i made way for the anoraks...ooops sorry enthusiasts:D as they were more into the running than me.....
back tomorow am for another track clean then hoping i can go i want to have a nose at the auto jumble and i can hop over the fence as railway land backs onto a field that meets site....feel like im on army manouveres when i do it, reciting a good "story" to myself if i get caught :rotfl:....havnt yet tho !!:D

i am off to get mabel fruit from the market next then off in anticipation of a home cooked meal from BF.....:rotfl::rotfl: i will let you know if his cullinary skills are what he cracks them up to be !!:rotfl: ........

well it hasnt rained today....YET!! im going to feed a friends cats each day [while she suns herself in corfu!!] and her hubby asked me to water a few plant pots...A FEW !! he has them round every corner!!:) cheeky wotnot !! so the next two weeks are going to test my stamina...i have BIG dog staying for this weekend too...so busy !!

as a foot note if im greeted by a cheapskate take away tonight i will not be a happy bunny !!:mad:

OH is a train buff & would be there all enthusing given half a chance. I do miss having access to things like car boot sales - skips - even! Used to love to go skip diving of an evening!

Have a nice meal - sure it'll be fine.
Just done the rounds enjoying the relatively quiet.

Went a bit mad at a car boot this morning and came back with a bike (for ds2), box of mixed dirty pottery/glass and other bits and pieces thats turning into a treasure trove (maybe :cool:). Will never make a fortune but its great fun researching old pottery to see who's done whom!!

With a conversion next door, we're skip diving daily for pallets and lots of offcuts of wood and discarded bricks. Saves spending petrol money on trips to Ikea and its provided lots of wood for the wood store as well as for the woodburner
