Thanks. The thing is, though I'm already skimming off everything I can and overpaying the mortgage. The plan is to have it gone in 9 years times, instead of 20ish.0

Thanks MrsM - I'm starting to feel better already. The ssafa guy phoned this morning to say that hopefully by the end of next week we should be in possession of a brand new cooker as the one we have we were given and although its okay, its not great. Once we have this i can get back to my baking which will save a fortune on all the biccies we have been buying!!
Welcome ixwood - i have a succession of pots at the moment which i don't want to empty - i'm keeping mine towards christmas, and i'm keeping my tesco vouchers as well, they always help towards crimbo dinner!! The great thing is our mobiles are tesco so we get triple points for topping up and hubby gets his petrol there so we managed to amass £10 in vouchers in about 3 months! So must really shop there more often as i have been tending to go for asda deliveries just lately but am in the process of closing down my current account and swapping to a no frills one so tesco will get more custom from me as they are walking distance from my house!
Have just realised that i have the dentist on the day the carpets come so at least i will be out of the house for most of the morning!! At least when i come back there should be carpets in the house so the new rules start then - all shoes off when you enter my house!!!!! Must go to primark at the weekend and get some cheap slippers for guests to wear! (i use a pair of those ugg type booties, keep my feel toasty warm!!)
hubby off to get DD2 from nursery so must go and crack on before he comes back and catches me on the computer lol xxxxLBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:

Ok - have registered on Landshare and was really pleased to see that an old work colleague has also registered there so maybe we can do something together. Am planning to email the chair of the Parish Council tomorrow to hook up with others who have requested allotments to be created. Wish me luck!0

Gosh, you didn't hang about! Still, that's exactly the right approach. Well done, and of course, best of luck with the 'persuasion techniques!;)'0 -

Huggermugger & Ixwood - WELCOME!
Well, here at mambury mansion (NOT!!, all two bedrooms!) we have borrowed a digger for the weekend, so DH is scraping back the topsoil where the patio will go eventually, and scraping back a path down the garden to my little ish sanctuary. This also means he is going to dig out a base for MY greenhouse to be and level off the bottom of the garden ready for MY raised beds. I guess I shall start work on all of that after glastonbury.:T:T:T
SO far my plans include
11 10 foot by 4 foot beds
2 11 foot by 5 foot beds - 1 for strawberries and one for asparagus.
2 7 foot by 4 foot beds
5 4 foot by 4 foot beds - 1 each for the kids and the other three mainly for salad and stuff like that.
an area 10 foot by 6 foot for fruit bushes, mainly blackcurrant and maybe a blueberry or several depending on space. This area will eventually become a fruit cage but funds don;t allow that at the moment.....
and space for a 6 x 10 greenhouse that I have my eye on. I have found a company that will supply frame only for £254 + £25 p&p, and DH will supply toughened glass for next to nothing as he is in the trade!:D
SO its all go!! If I get it al sorted in time, but not rushing, then I might get some winter veg in but if not then I will probably use a green manure to keep the beds all nice and cosy for the winter, all ready for a full season next year.
Oooh, I almost forgot, I have allowed an area 9foot x 9 foot for the chooks when I get round to sorting it all out!
All of the above will be fenced off from the rest of the garden to keep kids and dog out. I was thinking about the fencing, maybe using that as a productive area too. Raspberries are a fav in our house so I thought a 'hedge' of raspberries behind the fence might be a nice idea. I wonder if I would have too many rasberries with a 'hedge' 40 foot long!! Can anyone recommend any fruit that would be happy to grow like this???
I guess thats me all rambled out tonight...... Off to try and bodge the tent so I don't get too wet!

Have managed to scrape €200 together for my daydream fund.....priced the type of conservatory I want and it will be around €15k so we are in for a long savings term I think, will have to ensure that the car keeps going too as it is 7 years old which is the oldest car I have ever had....if it dies too soon the daydream fund will become a nightmare one as I hate spending money on things like cars!
Good luck to all daydreamers

Mambury, your garden plan sounds fantastic! Just a thought - blueberries need acid soil so it might be best to prepare a separate small bed just for them. They are also supposed to be happy in shady spots so you can use them in a place where other fruit won't do so well.
The fruit hedge is a great idea. Raspberries would be great, or if too tall (they can grow over 6 foot depending on type) how about cordon apples or something like that?
Meanmarie, hope your car keeps going! Mine has just been for a service and I'm very happy as the new radiator it needed wasn't as expensive as expected and the nasty noise that I was afraid signified the beginning of the end was only a very minor part that needed replacing! This is all good news as the car is an M-reg (is that 1997? not sure) and has done over 178,000 miles, and I'm hoping to keep it for a while yet (had it 7 years so far and it's been fantastic)
Busy potting up foxgloves this morning; I've done about 40 so far and it hardly seems to have made a dent in the tray of seedlings! Better do a few more...0 -

Hi all
Well more good news came yesterday.
Got a call from SSAFA again to say that they are ordering me a new cooker as the one we have was given to us and is not the best cooker, its too small for the space in the kitchen. Really happy as we were content with the carpets but they have gotten us a cooker too so I can start baking again when it gets delivered as the one we have is so pants it takes twice as long to cook stuff. Not good when you are trying to roast a chicken and its takes about 3 hours!
So looking forward to getting a new cooker. They say these things come in 3's so just waiting for something else to go right!
hope you are all well, speak to you soon as we have to go to town to collect some photos that we got taken of the kids so have to go pay for them today. Speak to you all later xxxLBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:
