DH is amazingly calm. That LR is his ''baby''. The people who found them thought DH was squashed dead with his legs out of the wrekage....but he was just trying to get the dog out.
i know i shouldnt laugh at this but:rotfl:. it reminded me of a belgium friend [who is slightly portly and having recently had cancer treatment couldnt wear a seat belt] who was out with her husband driving along when they too had an accident. they rolled over down a bank. she was thrown around, came to a halt, couldnt see her husband so assumed hed been flung from the car, started to shout his name at the top of her voice. only to eventually hear a desperate voice reply " your sat on me!!" and she was......
they were ok , bruised but nothing serious....

LIR, so sorry to hear of the accident, thank goodness occupants are OK. So many people have had nasty accidents in this weather, even when taking care.
RAS, what part of the country are you in? We have about two thirds of a greenhouse to spare here I think!0 -

Yes, but shock can kick-in later, so as others have said, plenty of TLC.
A sheep once caused me to become airborne on top of Exmoor, by leaping out from behind a gorse bush, right in front of my Honda. I was just winded, and only lost consciousness for a short time, so I thought I'd got away with it, but about 6 hours later, I came up in a huge rash. The doctor attributed that to shock.
As for the sheep, I expect it had a sore bum, but it had cleared off before I came round. Hardy breeds up there!0 -
Dear LIR, sorry to hear your news, but good to hear no damage to OH and Dog. Hugs to you all from Liverpool!0

LIR so glad that they are both ok! Remember to take care of yourself too as you will have got a terrible fright as well!
The pavements and side roads here are just covered in huge sheets of ice and it is almost impossible to walk on.
I have ordered the make your garden feed you book as well lol! Really looking forward to it arriving, also ordered one on companion planting by Bob Flowerdue so I will be well stocked with gardening books. The other ones look quite interesting too so I will have a wee peak at them on Amazon. Been spending too much time online and not enough time getting things done so I need a kick in the right direction.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer The Companion Planting Book is good. I've had it from the library. I must admit I do like Bob Flowerdew.
Well it is really cold here & the roads are pretty bad so we are cowering in until it clears this week coming - hopefully.
I've listed some more stuff on ebay - taken me ages really. Gotten a bit bitten by the bug - especially as it's been free listing.0 -
Hi all,
LIR sorry to hear of your hubby's accident and glad both he and dog dog are ok. I know it's been some hours since he had his accident but as others have stated he could still get delayed shock. I witnessed my mom go into shock after an accident many years ago, I think I was about 13/14, it was scary because none of us kids knew what to do - she was just crying and couldn't really talk to us to say why, niaively we thought it was because she had to pay out to get the car fixed! In the end my brothers made me call the doctor out.
I've recently been given the opportunity to become a First Aider at work so I've looked up "Shock" in my book and here are the signs to look out for:
Recognition: Rapid pulse. Pale, cold, clammy skin. Sweating.
As shock develops: Rapid shallow breathing. Weak pulse. Gery-blue skin, especially inside lips. Weakness and giddiness. Nausea and vomiting. Thirst.
As the brain's oxygen supply weakens: Restlessness. Gasping for air. Loss of consciousness.
And the steps to take:
Help casualty to lie down. Raise and support his legs above the level of his heart.
Loosen tight clothing. Keep the casualty's head low. Loosen clothing that restricts neck, chest and waist.
Keep casualty warm. Caver with a blanket and advise him not to move.
Call for emergency help. Give ambulance control details about the cause of shock. Monitor and record vital signs - level of response, breathing and pulse - until help arrives.
All the above information was taken from the First Aid Manual written and authorised by St John Ambulance, St Andrew's Ambulance !!! and The British Red Cross.

Poo
I'm sure its ok, we share recipes etc on MSE, and its certainly NOT offensive! I shall keep a good eye on him:)
DH is happily slurping hot chocolate and generally feeling alternately like a bit of an idiot for wrecking the car and inevitably costing money we could have done with and like the king of the world to walk away fine and to be getting spoilt rotten.
He's remembering some little details....like the farmer who called the police was saying ''its just a dog''(obviously on the phone confirming there were no other passengers) but DH got the pip thinking they meant only a dog don't worry you can't get it out.. and said ''its not just a dog its our marvellous dog and she's precious'':D
Luckily farmer wasn't offended and has a dog he loves too.:D
I am a bit shaken up...I'm doing silly things...like grabbing the handle of apan I'd just taken out of the oven with no cloth...ouch0 -
I've just received a heap of gardening magazines and 'Devon Life' from a nice old lady, which I'll make do with for now, as I've just spent my Christmas money on a new camera. Actually, it's second hand, but the elderly gentleman who sold it to me hadn't used it, beyond opening the box and taking some snaps on the internal memory. He said he'd not noticed it had no viewfinder(!) and that it wouldn't print the date on the pictures, which was very important to him. (I don't think he had a computer either, as the disc and download leads are still wrapped.)
People really ought to know more about their rights to reject things, especially when they buy from a shop and then find that the item doesn't meet their basic expectations when they get home. Too late now, so a bonus for me, but the reason I picked this one up is quite similar. I've been after a really pocketable yet versatile camera for some time, but I'm not convinced about the ergonomics of titchy things. My DD2 has one almost identical and she raves about it, so it's worth a go, but not at the full price!0
