    I've been Money Tipped!

but I have tried selling my hubby's dirty socks on ebay, they went up to £16, before they got pulled by ebay for being of adult material... flip did i get some wired emails.... put it this way they wanted photos of hubby wearing them.... with nothing else on:eek:

Did you give the photos or did they bid to £16 with out them....I'm just thinking, dh's weekly sock wear could bring in £112 and the socks wouldn't cost as much as that. I wear 14 pairs.....I wear two pairs at a time....so.....

I didn't know you couldn't buy adult things on ebay. I wonder why not, seems a lot of the stuff on there is trash of a different sort...

I like the idea about the wool and having pics of the sheep next to it! People love traceability and cottage industries as they are distinct. There are lots of ways that you could generate an income, they may bring in much to start with but each little bit counts. Photos of your views would sell too!

i went to the big shed to find my xmas tree accompanied by my jack R. he thought hed died and gone to heaven trying to find 4 legged ,long tailed critters.... i managed to find the "tinsel" box only to have JR dive head first into it ! i then got the "bauble" box to which over excitedly, he leapt at and knocked it clean out of my hands sending my "balls" flying!! eventually i heaved the tree out from its resting place only to find the sweetest perfect nest in the branches :) so iv put tree up in my lounge [with nest] but couldnt be a*sed to decorate it so it looks like a wood in my lounge at mo.... will do it tmorow....maybe. i dont feel xmassy this year???

i do hope all of you who are going to get REALLY s**t weather fare well, i do realise im a southern softie who is lucky with weather in comparison.:A

At one time i was seriously thinking of doing a website for them...lol.. and then decided not to, as its would be opening a whole can of pervie worms... and i have got young kiddies ( then anyway they are 14 and 16 now) and i just could not risk them going on the computer and seeing emails etc

    Well, I'm not buying anyone's knickers.....or socks:p

Pants is about the one thing I have plenty of, mainly because my kids buy them for me when they can't think of anything else. And that's OK, because I admit I haven't used, or even looked at most of the things people got me last Christmas. I'm a horrible person to buy for, and apart from pants, socks, and whisky, nothing fits. :(

Even at school, kids would buy me socks at Christmas, mostly with Homer Simpson on them. I even got a pair of Darth Maul underpants from one girl, though as parents usually buy teachers' presents, I don't know what her Mum was thinking. Fortunately, that year Comic Relief was 'Pants to Poverty' so I wore them on stage while compering the Talent Show we held to raise money.:o Hmmmm.....that should have been Certificate 18, but no one complained.:rotfl:

The Salvation Army were here yesterday, collecting unwanted clothes for redistribution. I felt so guilty, but we've always worn clothes in the garden until they literally drop to bits, and the need for comfy old stuff is even more acute now. Driving through earlier, I noticed the best response in terms of bags seemed to be outside the old people's bungalows.:o:o

I popped on here to find out if it was snowing anywhere else, and it seems that it is. We have had about 3 cm so far and now the wind's dropped, the sky's clearedand it looks like we're in for a hard frost. DW has just phoned from Somerset to ask if she should drive home from MILs tonight and I've said 'No!'

I've really had a laugh tonight. There's nowt as strange as folk eh?

Fleeces are expensive to get off them & bring in buttons - We actually got more this year from the British Wool Marketing Board, but it doesn't pay & they only give you some of the money & then when you send your fleeces in the following year - you get what you were owed from th epprevious year plus a percent of that years.
Other people who spin expect the fleeces for ziltch.....my fleeces are really good quality/soft etc because it's Shetland in the main. If I spent money & dyed them I could probably sell them for felting, spinning etc. I would need to get equipment, invest time etc. I don't think I can get off on that. I've tried advertising them & the other year I sold two for £10 & the guy had a right good nosey around my shed....thought I was gonna get a break in for ages afterwards. Thenloads of phone calls from time wasters alias other crofters thinking this is a good idea - didn't have the prices in the paper so loads of nosey questions - kinda put me off.

As someone said to me the other week - This crofting will make you poor. I daren't think about what I've spent on fences - five figures!

    I think I got £6 for 22 fleeces. Cost £50 for shearing!
  • choille, maybe you could try advertising them in places like london?

where there isnt many sheep, where city folk want a piece of the country life,

as i personally think the country style websites, whether they are selling tweed clothes, or hand made products etc,, are not only selling a product, they are selling the image of the country life style too

    hope that makes sense

i had some guys come round asking about any scrap. i said no i didnt have any but he gave me his "card" incase. 2 weeks later "someone" tried to steal my big generator... got it out [on wheels] as far as the gates but obviously realised they would have to have eaten 2,000 weetabix to lift it into whatever to take away. i had a phone call from BF on arriving here asking was there a reason it was on the drive....i was mortified... its over £3,000 worth.... its now "disabled... wheels off and chained to iron ring!
i handed scrappys card to police just incase there was any other coincidental thefts after a similar visit.

the thought of shearing seems a long way off ! as you can see by pic my sheep have hugely thick curly coats and look like they have shrunk in the wash when they are clipped!!

i thought of having a go at spinning....got all the gear but its just decoration now !!

good news is the lady i bought THE hat [ebay] from has contacted me to tell me she has 5 more, am i interested ? well i suppose she could twist my arm .........
