Hey Moozie! Good to see you around and congrats on the wedding :T
It feels so long since our late night silliness with SS (make of that statement what you will!) but its remembered fondly
You're doing so well, I've no doubt you'll have a fabulous wedding and feel even better because its not got you into debt!

Hey loubie_lou, long time no see! Hope things get back on track for you and we see more of you on here!
Mizz_Pink congratulations on your wedding. Hope it all went according to the plan and you are very very happy! Thanks for the website, I'll be sure to take a look :T
Hey kath, not see you in yonks! How are things? Are you on a well deserved break from all that studying? I hope you are enjoying your time off and your parents are spoiling you
This made me :rotfl: What will everyone think!!! It was very good fun and one that must be repeated!kathfisch wrote:It feels so long since our late night silliness with SS (make of that statement what you will!) but its remembered fondlyLeason learnt :beer:0 -

I'm alright thanks, had a very hectic few months finishing uni and was hardly on here at all, it showed in my spending a bitbut ah well hey. Its amazing that just being around here helps to keep my spending down
I'm kind of on a break from studying... the kind that's called graduating and not knowing what to do with yourself :rotfl: More studying required in the near future I think, he he! Am currently looking for some kind of job but struggling to know what I want to do and/or how fussy I can afford to be:rolleyes:
I've been debating a bit lately how much time I should spend on here... sometimes feel I lose too much time to it... but if there's a promise of more late night silliness I'll just have to stay!:rotfl:

Today is one of the darker days
It's the time of the month where all my payments have gone out and I am getting restless as the spreadsheet with all the totals don't change
Got a letter through the post about Alliance and Leicester wanting to offer me a loan at 5.6%. Obviously I am past the consolidation stage but as I have two loans already at 6.5%, I thought I'd check their balances and see if there is any benefit in taking up A&L's offer for a reduced period/higher overpayments. So, I gave the loan companies a ring to ask for my settlement figures. They were both very helpful and gave me the figures which are about £1,000 different to what I had estimated
Turns out the way I have been advised to work them out was incorrect because the interest is front loaded so that is what is paid first. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I was about £1,000 out on my calculations for my overall debt when I started and now. I am still chuffed to bits with my progress but I thought I was a bit further along than I am
The worst came when I entered the new totals in http://www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx and it gave me my new DFD as Feb 08, 3 months longer than before
Just for the record, here's my revised figures then and now:
Debt APR 1/3 TOTAL 1/3 APR 25/8 TOTAL 25/8 Monthly
Loan 1 6.5% £7,178.23 6.5% £5,667.02 £386.12
Loan 2 6.5% £6,601.57 6.5% £5,469.87 £201.68
OD 1 15.6% £1,308.15 0% £1,239.76 varies
CC 1 0% £2,415.08 2.9% £982.78 £29.48 but overpay
Catalogue 0% £65 paid off
CC 2 12.9% £51.56 paid off
OD 2 15.6% £413.02 paid off
Total £18,032.60 £13,359.43 £617.48 (but average £778.86 with the overpayments)
I think the best thing to do is to look for more mystery shopping jobs and list more stuff on ebay/amazon. That will keep me busy and generate some much needed income
Lesson I learnt today was to always check and double check my figures with the creditor before I make any assumptions again!Leason learnt :beer:0 -
Oh Moozie, that must feel so disappointing for you hun (((hugs)))
But remember - it doesn't change the amazing amount you've paid off and the fact that you're still in control of your finances. Just think, when you first came on here you'd no idea how much you owed... now you're down because your debt free date has been put back - you never even had a debt free date before!!!
Don't let this setback outweigh all the progress you've made!! :T

I have just been reading through your thread & WOW what an inspiration you are, you've really done fantastically well. :T
As for the wedding dress & stuff, I wonder why people feel the need for all of the expense, the wedding day should be about marrying someone you love not about all the expensive stuff.
We did ours 9 years ago for under £300, my dress was hired for £70, it was lovely & they did all the alterations needed included in that price. Freinds made plates of sarnies & we brought multipacks of crisps & tons of beer & went to MILs huge back garden, it was a lovely day.0 -

Thanks Kath
I feel bad for feeling bad - does this make sense? At the end of the day, I am in so much debt, another £1,000 won't push me over the edge I think
Thanks for your support. You're right, before I didn't even think of possibly being debt free one day. In fact, before I added my debts (albeit incorrectly  ) I thought they'd be about £35,000. I had no idea.

Thanks carriel! This sounds just like my perfect wedding! Here's hoping we can have something similar :jLeason learnt :beer:0 -
well done, i had my light bulb moment and nearly died when i counted it all up,,, but do you know what its like the shadow monster in the cupboard at night once you shine a light on it, its not as scary as you thought.
it will however take organisation, a change of lifestyle and a strong stomach to deal with those nasty creditors BUT you will get so much good advice and support here and eventually it WILL all be behind you... do your SOA and post it and give CCCS a call,, they are great and don't judge but offer good advice and solutions to our problems
good luck!0 -
