How do you know what to go for basically? I may try it but get the feeling I will just end up with a load of rubbish I can't shift.0

The usual boring reminder...the moment you buy to sell on you are trading and must declare yourself as such to HMRC.
As for knowing what is valuable and what is not, I have been selling for years and still can't fathom it out! I bought lots of books on my weekend away, the ones I bought particularly to sell are mainly worthless, the ones I bought to read or to give to friends are the valuable ones. For instance I picked up an oldish magazine for my son on a subject that interests him, paid 10p and a quick look at completed items on ebay show two sold in the past 15 days for around the £4 mark. OK, not enough to retire on but assuming he lets me sell it a sweet little profit anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh, and one other tip. The coloured wedgwood style pottery that used to be so popular is now worth virtually nothing, so don't buy any. I bought a box from an auction about 3 years ago thinking I was going to make a fortune and am still teased about it now when I go to the auction house as I was the only bidder and was very eager to buy and everyone including the auctioneer thought I was mad. I can't even give the stuff away at 99p.

Being an accountant I am very aware of this, on the flip side the occasional item isn't too bad and won't raise the alarm. As for doing the right thing maybe you should, but I warn if you do a tax return once they will want one every year for a long time afterwards.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I left a load of teaching assistant handbooks in the charity shop today as I've made mistakes before. They were asking for £2, came home and checked Amazon and selling for £14+!“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I saw a LOTRs chess set today in a charity shop, priced at £15, which was enough to discourage me from an impulse buy. Went back to the office and checked it out on ebay - looks like they sell for less than £10 - if they sell at all. Not everything is worth buying up!"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0
