    Hi

I started by selling books and a couple of games on amazon, are there other things i can sell also, i find it so much easier than ebay and you don't have to pay fees upfront

    Cheers

Well, I've cleared out most of our CD, DVD and video collection! Oh, and sold some hair straighteners for £15 that I bought for under a fiver at Boots after seeing a tip off on the Grabbit board.
  • Juno - You could send both books together in the same parcel and put a few stamps in the parcel as a gesture
  • As long as postage didn't go above one postage allocation (around £2.50) i would have went into my account and refunded the second amount and sent them out together. But that is just me.

Can you do that - just refund the postage?
  • I think you can do a partial refund of any amount you like - I haven't done one though.

Right, got a weird one. Sold a book today, an £18 one so don't want it to go belly up.

Email has come from the buyer, a bit snotty sounding, saying that they wanted it to go to their Spain address but that Amazon system will only accept their UK one. And that they can't get any useful information out of amazon.

I'm guessing the problem is that I only offered it on sale to the UK. If I were to refund them and relist as being available to Europe, it should be ok yes?

However, where do I stand re postage? Should I put the price up of the book to factor in the extra postage cost or will I get a bigger allowance from Amazon anyway - and if so will it cover the extra outlay? Anyone know how it works?? Never ventured into posting abroad yet!
  • I've posted abroad so far so good, touch wood etc etc! You get £3.94 for Spain. See here http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/3149401/ref=w_h__brbx_c_1_1/202-3600635-6799857
As it costs a lot more to post to Europe (as you must send it Airmail)it is time to email them to let them know of what you must do and then refund them when they agree and relist as available to Europe.

Having had a very stressful week am now feeling calm and relaxed!
I must say since I started with risi there's been no stopping me, have gone from 1 sale in December, 3 sales in January, to 38 sales so far this month!
Have had sales at least every other day, but usually 2 or 3 on those days. Today was slow though only sold one was most disappointed. OH has now set up his own accounts with risi and amazon so we're fighting for the computer now!
Now I've got enough from Amazon for baby satan's bed, I have decided to save for another computer, so we are going to start at the boot sales Saturday to get some more stock each. If you see two people fighting over books at a sale near you its just me and the OH!
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I have also listed the obscure book for international selling as suggested on here, here's to hoping that goes, and thanks for the tip. :D

  • Hi purplepatch!

Yeap, you can partial refund a sale or full refund, whatever you like really, it is quite simple.

As far as spending the book to spain - I have had no problem sending books to all corners of the world including Brazil and Japan. The only thing that i do question is if she is registered in the UK but wants it sent to spain will it just allocate UK postage fee?
I have never actually bought a book from the marketplace before so i don't exactly how it all works from the other end. Good luck!
