  • After a very slow week - no sales at all I finally have one.

Well almost - it is a pending one and whereas normally I just let them take their own course, they either come right or don't, this one is for an expensive book and I'd like to contact the seller as it would be nice to sell it!!

Just wondering what sort of thing to say to her - any advice would be appreciated

I had one at the weekend and mine was also for an expensive book. I emailed the potential buyer and acknowledged her interest in the book and said that as per the Amazon email I would hold the book for 72 hours for her. I finished by saying if I could assit her further then to please contact me.

I never heard anything and have just relisted the book :(

This is the wording I use:

Re: Item reference - Amazon Marketplace Pending Transaction

I've been advised that you tried to purchase XXXXXX, but that there has been a problem with the transaction and it hasn't gone through. Amazon advise that I shouldn't send it to you until I receive confirmation that they have processed the payment but if it doesn't proceed, I have to wait for 3 days before I can relist the item.

I'd therefore be very grateful if you could let me know whether you still wish to go ahead with this purchase, as if not I can relist before then.

I believe you should have received an email from Amazon explaining the position and advising how you should proceed. If you need any assistance, let me know and I'll do my best to help.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Regards

I seem to get quite a few pendings go through, so hope that is of assistance.

After a tranaction is completed does the Seller need to leave feedback - my buyers have not left any for me yet?

Feedback on Amazon is a bit hit and miss. Some buyers know from previous experience that they should leave feedback and do so straight away. Otherwise what will happen is a few weeks will pass and Amazon will eventually send the buyer an automated email with a link, inviting them to rate you as a seller and leave feedback.

If you have a read of part 2 of the thread towards the end, there is a bit of a discussion about the pros and cons of inviting feedback (I think that most of us don't bother although I do if somebody emails me raving about my fantastic service ;)) and also there are some statistics given - for example I've sold nearly 200 items since October, but the number of buyers leaving feedback is only about 60 - so clearly a lot of people don't bother.

    Hi

I started by selling books and a couple of games on amazon, are there other things i can sell also, i find it so much easier than ebay and you don't have to pay fees upfront

    Cheers

I just said something about how Amazon automatically adds the postage, and I can't do anything about it!

Eurgh, it's a bit of a nasty one isn't it. Are you going to send them in one parcel? I'd be a bit worried about them leaving narky feedback.

I had same situation in reverse a while ago now. Before I started selling, I bought two 1p Harry Potter paperbacks from the same person and asked for combined postage!! Like they would have agreed to that, knowing what I know now! I did feel a bit put out when they said no and then did post them in one package. I didn't leave bad feedback though.
