I sold a book at a 1p :) not much, but it didn't cost much in postage. So a few more pennies for a rain day, and one less book in the house!! Just hope they like it!! There were a few others listed at the same price, so quite pleased that mine was chosen!!!

    :)

Hi I wonder if anyone can help [hope this question hasn't already been asked - I have looked but couldn't see it.]

Anyway, I am new to Amazon selling, and I have an item that has 1 buyer waiting. The question is, where can I find out what that buyer is prepared to pay, as I have listed the item at £12.50 but no sale for a week.

    Best wishes
    Joanne

What i don't understand is all of the books that are listed for 1p.

What is the point of that? Am I missing something

The buyer may not want the book in your condition - They may have specified Like New only etc. If there is a buyer waiting and they are prepared to buy the book in your condition, it would be worth gradually reducing your books price until the sale goes through.

Check that the book is accurately valued though by using www.abebooks.com first as some buyers could set low asking prices for more valuable books as somebody pointed out the other week. :)

Thanks for that jo_b. It's actually a toy rather than a book. I have tried listing it under very good, good, acceptable etc but nothing. No idea what the toy is worth now and not sure how to check it out.

Will try reducing the price over the next few days but I don't want to under sell because of postage costs.

    Thanks
    Joanne

    selling fees and postage allowance

There are fees when you sell the book, these are made up of a fixed amount of 86 pence plus a percentage of it's sale price. You get to see what these are when you list the book, it shows you what the charges will be, and what you'll be paid so you can see if this is acceptable to you before you commit yourself to selling it, having said that you can withdraw it at any time. Amazon gives you £2.32 to go towards the postage of the book so if it's a light paperback there will be a little money for yourself left over on just the postage allowance alone, this is how you can sell a book for as little as 1 penny and still have a small profit.

so you don't get a lot, but every little counts, and my OH is happy to see the back of most of my books..... :rotfl: actually make that all my books.....don't know what we'd use the bookcase for if not books though

I've noticed that Rough Guide and Lonely Planet travel guides for countries are priced at very near the Amazon sell price. Do these sell well?
