I picked up a book in a second-hand shop at the weekend. THere are two listed already for £328! I then checked on bookfinder and abe books, only one on abebooks for £95 in denmark. What would you do?

list it high and slowly reduce cost if it doesnt sell

Hi everyone, haven't sold much on Amazon for a while, but now have a problem, so can anyone help?

Sold CD on 13th feb and posted it that day. Got COP as usual. Have received an email TODAY! to say it wasn't received and that the buyer thinks there may be a problem with their postman. I am a bit annoyed that they haven't told me until now and they have asked for all kinds of personal information about me - address, phone number etc and I am not sure why.

Anyone else had this happen? If I have already been paid by Amazon, will refunding be a complete PIA?

I've had a buyer get in touch, saying the book hasn't arrived. I've refunded the whole amount including postage, using the Amazon transactions page. The Amazon fees are automatically refunded back to you as well.

As you haven't sold any books recently, this might leave your Amazon account in debit, rather than credit. I'm not sure how that would work, to be honest, but I'm sure somebody else will know.

Then it's just a matter of tracking down the original COP and trying to get a refund from the Post Office. I haven't got that far myself but I'll let you know how I get on! :)

  • Crispy - I'm not sure if there's a time limit to claim on your COP, it's been 7 weeks since you posted it so I think that your customer has been very lax in not mentioning it before now, I wouldn't refund until the PO refunds you.
  • Thanks - the time limit is worrying me. DH had actually binned the COP, but luckily the recycling bin hadn't been emptied yet. I will talk to the PO about refunds tomorrow, but I am assuming I don't get my postage back, which is annoying.

Why didn't she say anything 7 weeks ago?
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."

Go into your seller account. You can do this by clicking on the 'Your Account' link right at the top of the page, and then on the 'Seller Account' link on the right hand side (It's under the title 'Auctions, zShops, and Marketplace').

From there, you see a section entitled 'Manage Your Inventory View your current inventory for sale' and you can click on either open or closed depending on which list you want to view.

    I hope that helps.

  • Hi Christina - well done on a good start, this is a snippet from the first post

    where is your information stored?

All your OPEN and CLOSED listings are to be found on the SELLER ACCOUNT page. From this page you can look at RECENT TRANSACTIONS and ACCOUNT SUMMARY this is your imformation hub, all your coming and goings are here.

You can close the sale whenever you want if you change your mind and also you can edit it later to change the price and details if you like, you will find that other sellers will be undercutting your prices so you could decide to reduce and undercut them or sit tight and let their book sell first giving yours a clear run.

The other way to approach this is to match the price of the lowest book, if you go even lower the competitor will see in his OPEN LISTINGS that he isn't the lowest priced any more and the knee jerk reaction is for him to undercut you and then it will spiral downwards with you both getting less and less for your book. If yours book matches the lowest priced book then the alarm bells won't ring when he looks at his list and then the buyer just has to decide from the description which he prefers, hopefully yours is better

you can find the sellers account page by going into 'your account' page first

Whinge whinge whinge...i didn't sell a book today....whinge whinge whinge.

For the person who would like to see all their listings go to "ACCOUNT" then go to "SELLERS ACCOUNT" which should be on the right hand side of the page and you will see:

View your current inventory for sale
    Amazon.co.uk Marketplace: open | closed

Click on open and it takes you to your listings.
