To be honest pinkpie, for £2.00 I dont think anyone is going to get hugely upset by a bit of damage.

It's probably more convenient for them if you send it instead of them having to order another one & add delay into receiving the item. Might be worth putting a note in the package explaining the situation. Tell them to get in contact if there's a problem & you'll sort something out together.

But, my opinion / perspective on things might be different to theirs & yours.

I agree, pinkpie, if I'm not too late to say so!!

I had a book on sale which didn't have an ISBN, wasn't sure whether it was printed for a book club or not, although it seemed to be published by Penguin (I have a few books published by them without an ISBN does anyone know why? Are they book club editions?) I hadn't mentioned this in my description and never really expected it to sell, never got round to amending description... so when it sold, I emailed the buyer, who didn't reply. I sent it, think I stuck a copy of my email in there and added a note, saying I hoped it was okay, and if not to contact me. Never heard anything from them at all, so I assume they were happy! They haven't left any feedback (yet), but this was a couple of months ago, so assume they won't bother now.

I have just sold another book - yippee!! One I never expected to sell - one of my first purchases, when I bought it without checking it out first. It was printed for Past Times (put this in the description this time). Couldn't find it on Amazon for ages, but finally did. Sold for £20 - paid about £1.75 for it, so chuffed.

Hubby just told me need to sell about 8 more like that a week, then I don't need to go back to work from mat. leave!!!

There really must be something in this site as that's twice it has worked now for me. Or is it just that people have been paid...

I'm giving the whinge a try...

I did sell a book yesterday though that I had hanging around for weeks. It went for £11.53 after fees and the postage was good and cheap as well so I was well pleased, a few more sales wouldn't come amiss though......

  • Zoe, if you haven't done it already I offer the refund less your postage costs if she doesn't want it re-sent at her expense (I'd ask for paypal or a cheque) I can't see any problem with that you did everything as it should have been done and are out of pocket.

Thanks Bella13 but in the end I decided to refund as the book was so cheap but quite heavy & I wouldn't make any money sending it, let alone if I needed to pay for it to come back.

I mailed again apologising and explaining I wouldn't relist again for a couple of weeks and to mail me if they wanted it at the further reduced price so I feel I've done as much as I can at this point. And still no contact......

Am I the only one who worries about this sort of thing? It's terrible how much I can worry after getting a few unfair feedback from people who didn't read the condition description, leave feedback without contacting me and then mess up my rating! I know life's too short etc but it really annoys you when you're genuinely honest and trying your best...
  • Was going to put some old Playstation games on eBay at starting price of £2.50 each - on Amazon these are £7.99, £8.75 & £9.99 so I'm trying there first! Got 2 other games which I'm not sure what to do with yet - Best of Worm's Pinball Value Series & World Championship Snooker (Original), both seem to have low selling prices on Amazon so would you try eBay first? Both games are in excellant condition, complete with instructions & inlay sheets BUT Worm's has a broken box.

I've just got hold of a childrens book that is out of print and by a famous adult fiction author. The only other copy is selling for £44 from the USA. :D I'm going to start it off at £39.99 and drop the price down after a few weeks.

This is my first really expensive book. Should I send it by recorded or special delivery? What are people's experience with this?
  • If it's worth over £30 then it'll have to be Special Delivery. 1st, 2nd or Recorded only cover upto £30.

  • pinkpie - you are not alone, I agonise too about the conditions of books and feedback, but then I'm a worrier!

Katgoddess - are you sure it is worth that much? Check abebooks.co.uk and bookfinder.com; some Americans ask hugely inflated prices, but then you can get £40 for some books.
I'm sorry but I'm not Mike!

like Mr Clingford says there are some US buyers out there with huge prices, and i've never fathomed out why. One book I recently sold at a fiver had several listed at around the £4-£8 mark in 'very good' condition, yet there is a US seller with one sitting there at £90 in an acceptable condition. Maybe they are just playing a longer game

I'll check. But the hardback version is going for similar amounts from UK sellers.
