  • Becky - that's great, I'd pitch in high and lower it later - then when it's sold if you really love us all here you might want to tell us what the book is so we can look out for it ;) :j :D

I have got hold of a book there are 12 buyers waiting! Never had a buyer waiting one before I haven't listed it yet but guess I may have a sale. Amazon's suggested price is £7.20 do I put it in at that? Or go higher and hope one of the 12 takes it?

Becky I had a double video of Dave Allen the comedian. There was no other one listed and Amazon suggested 9.99. As I was in no hurry to sell it, I priced it at 19.99 and it sold very quickly.

    CALLING OUT TO AT!!!!!!!!!

I suppose it is a bit late in the day to be asking this question after selling on amazon for months, but I am still not quite sure how you date a book. I often see people stating theirs is first edition.

I usually figure it is as old as the most recent reprint date mentioned????

I once sold a book in my early days and the man left most apreciative feedback saying he had not realised the book was the 1985 edition (I had just listed under the title) and when I looked I realised mine was worth a lot more than I had put it in for! (typical  ).

Any hints or articles you can recommend? Thanking you :)

  • Hi larmy - this came up on thread one, about half way through. There were a few really good posts so I'll go and find them - but - I have to go to the supermarket now. I time it for about 10 minutes after they open at 8, by then they will have marked down the short dated meat.
I'll be back at around 9.15 to have a look (unless you've lost patience by then and found it yourself!)
  • Found the link that purple put in about first editions

Just sold a tatty old paperback from my childhood for over £20!!! :j

This wasn't a First Edition but was a first print from a certain publisher and appears to be quite rare. There were about 6 copies on Amazon all priced in the £20s and £30s (UK sellers - not the ridiculous US prices.)

I listed it a couple of weeks ago and undercut the lowest price by just 50p and it has sold today! I've also got another listed for a similar price from the same author, so fingers crossed. :):):)

How do you know when there are people waiting for a book?

Once you have submitted your book condition and description, it will say 'Buyer Waiting' on the next screen and suggest an average selling price.

There is a little box saying BUYER WAITING in red in the top corner of the books' page, it's a sight to behold when you get one!

Well done Jo_b...I really think that Martin should look around for 'green with envy' smiley, there's one for every other kind of emotion but that one!

    sorry, cross posted with you

I'm supposed to be selling, not buying, but I couldn't resist going to a jumble sale. I've now got 3 huge bags of books and a computer monitor, and I only spent about £4!
