If a book is a little dirty i usually use face wipes to remove any general marks and dirt and i also use a good eraser to remove any charity shop prices from the pages or underlining in text books.
It has been a great suppliment to my income and it is highly addictive.
I really can't thank AT enough for sharing her knowledge with us all.
Here, here. :T
Don't the face wipes leave a soapy residue, though?
I started on Amazon to get rid of a couple of books and DVDs I bought new but didn't want to carry with me when I moved house. I have bought only three books from charity shops and so far only one has sold but I am hopeful for the others. We'll see how it goes. I am still ahead but only just.'Everyone loves to read but it can be a real nuisance when you lose your place. Here's a solution. When you finish reading a page, just tear it out. You'll save money on bookmarks too!' -- Amanda's Handy Hints, Amanda Keller. :cool:0 -
No, no soapy residue left on the books, i just make sure that they are very dry before storing or sending.
It sounds like you are doing really well with the amount of books you have sold compared to the amount listed.0 -
I have about 70 books listed, and it's very slow at the moment. But my Ebay is going wuite well, I sold 3 items overnight!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Hi, am thinking of listing some items on Amazon but have to travel sometimes at quite short notice, so I'm not sure how it would work? What happens if you are unable to access e-mails? Do you remove your items and relist or is there a facility to put your items on "hold" for a while? Any help gratefully received. :undecided :idea:Grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me"0

There's a facility to turn off your listings and turn them on again, for example if you go on holiday. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

grimelda wrote:So, a general question for Amazon sellers, as I have always been interested in statistics.
How many books/DVDs etc do people have listed at any one time? What percentage of your items sell within the two months? How many on average do you list each day?
I've got about 125 items still listed. I've received nearly £300 in Amazon payments since I started selling in Dec 05!! (Again, many thanks to A-T and her inspiring advice on the original thread!)
I find it takes a good few weeks for some items to sell - the only ones that have gone immediately have been those that have had a buyer waiting and none others listed.
I've just re-listed a few items as they have reached the 90 day mark. A couple sold after re-listing so that's not bad going.
None of the stuff is bought-in. I'm just decluttering and getting rid of some of the hundreds of books that have been stored in the loft since moving house two years ago!!! (I've also sold a few swaps.)0 -
Two pendings this morning both on decently priced books
That makes 4 this week! These books are definitely cursed!
I have 190 listed and am selling between 14 and 20 per week. Around 75% of my stock are lowish priced books £3-£4, I probably sell around 1 or 2 decent priced book per week (over £10). Off to the bootsale in the morning to replenish my stock and fight with OH over the best ones :rotfl:
My sales only really took off last month, prior to that I was selling 1 or 2 per week, and only sold 1 in December which was when I started. I think AT should be nominated for an OBE for public services :TI love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

My goodness. I saw a post a long while ago about self-help books. Have had a fair few books listed for quite a while (expired and relisted once so far), but put a 'Yoga' book up night before last and its been sold already! 50p from a charity shop and I'll get £2.76 in total. And its light too, so I dont think postage will be too bad!0

Just got my 3rd pending this morning! Anyone else having the same problem, or is it just my curse that I'm getting all the buyers with problems!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Have you thrown out those smelly old books yet, they're blocking your ch'i and making your book business stagnate :rolleyes:0
