    Hi Juno,

I was trying to reduce my stock a little too. Have just been to the village Church fair and come home with a bag of books!!!

All I need now is for someone to start buying my books again. Sales have disappeared completely, although I have managed a couple of swaps over the last 3 days!

Anyone had any success with books on Flower Arranging? I have seen quite a little collection for sale and just wondered if it was a good seller. :D

I NEVER see weird and wacky!!!! People around here have obviously never been through that sort of book buying phase in the past. :o

Sometimes I do a little research on amazon. For example I found that a lot of books on Bonsai are priced quite well. The same if you type in Cross stich for example, you can then see which books are most valuable. Sometimes I make lists. Also some gardening books. Often the charity shops have trouble shifting these especially the hardback ones. So type in flower arranging, then cheapest to most expensive and maybe you can then see if those particular books are wor th buying?

    Heya,
I've noticed some job lots of around 100 or so computer books on eBay for sale.
Price is around £100, so let's say £1 per item.

Has anyone ever attempted buying a bulk job lot from eBay especially to resell on Amazon?

Just wondering if there's anything in it, or whether the items in the job lots will be unsellable junk.

    Thanks all.

Hi Ant2006, I have had a look at those as well and even thought they are brand new i think thay have already flooded the market. When searching for the titles most are going for 1p, they are quite heavy books too so i steer right clear of them.

And on another note with the buying waiting thing. There are a lot of people who put in a buyer waiting request for a huge amount less than what the book is worth because it gives an instant sale or at least instant notification when that book is listed. Thus getting them a right bargain.

I have had this before. My OH has a huge collection of very rare and collectable books and i was lucky enough to be able to sell one of them. It was only an old cheaply made paperback but I knew the book was worth £45-£50, the buy waiting was only £5. If i didn't know the true worth of this book i would probably think that £5 was fair. I listed the book at £45 and it sold within 48 hours.

Remember also if there are 12 buyers waiting and it has given the average price £7.20, this is only the average. the highest amount someone will be willing to pay for the book will be more than this. I would first search bookfinder.com and abe.com to look for a comparision and then if i couldn't find one start off high, probably £25-£30. To have 12 people waiting shows that there is a high demand for it. If it doesn't sell for a week or two i would slowly drop the price.
  • Hi Kaminari - lots of good advice there, it's very easy to punch the air with 'buyer waiting' but a cool head is probably the best thing..

Had quite a good day. Sold 3 items. All were things I'd only listed this weekend but not complaining. Find that if things are going to sell then they do so within 48 hours of listing. If they don't go then they linger around til they expire.

Still haven't got around my amazon problem but my best friend is letting me sell on her amazon account - woo hoo! I am still going to try out abebooks but until that is set up I will stick with amazon for a bit.

I have listed 41 books and one I listed yesterday sold today - yipeeee! I bought it in a charity shop yesterday for 25p and sold it for £7.50 so I am very pleased.

This is my very first sale, I hope it is the first of many
