Afternoon all,
Interesting to hear what subjects are being chosen for GCSEs. My Ds1 has opted for triple science, Spanish and systems control(s). I'm not really sure what the last one is:rolleyes: The trouble is they get a list with a lot of subjects they haven't done before -i-media, leisure and tourism, photography, sports science. Not proper subjects at all imo:rotfl: I wished he had chosen a humanity to go with the science and language but he has to do RE at GCSE (catholic school) and after talking to the RE teacher I think it is a good compromise for not doing history or geog.
OSwise today I've made some bread and done the laundry. Sausages for tea-everyone's favourite;)0 -
Purpleclutterbuck - Edit appears at the bottom of your post, so that if you notice something you want to change later (for me it is usually a spelling mistake) you can press 'edit' and it takes you to a screen where you can alter your post. (I think that is clear
Or someone else will explain it all clearly).
DD is dear daughter, DS is dear son, DH is dear heart or dear husband, OH is other half, OP means original post or original poster - any others anyone?
IYSWIM had me baffled for a very long while - if you see what I mean.
Little bear is settling down reading in his room. It is lovely hearing him turn the pages and sing to himself. I am going to have a quick look at a magazine dear heart bought me, then when the washing machine has finished this load I shall reload and clear the kitchen.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Hi to purpleclutterbuck.
Daughter has only just gone 15 so is more on the run up to GCSEs. She does get stressed from time to time so we get revision books for her, build in treats from time to time so she has something to look forward to and try to encourage her to get work done as soon as she can so she does not get overloaded.
Her sisters have gone through all this already so are good at calming her down if she gets worried and we just point out we love her regardless and all she can do is her best.
Having said all this - she will probably go off on a wobbly just to prove me wrong;)"This site is addictive!"

Reverbe, i am going to be quite blunt but I really do mean well so please don't jump down my throat people.
Your situation sounds intolerable and IMO it is no wonder you are down. Your living conditions sound less than ideal and I really do not understand to situation with your OH.Are you actually "going out together". How can you have a partner who you don't speak to or see through their choice?
I know that everyone's relationships are different but this just doesn't sound like it is a relationship.
If it was making you happy I wouldn't comment because I am a great believer in each to his own but you sound so miserable about it.
I hope you get it all sorted because it sounds like you deserve alot more. xxx I really hope I haven't offended you and I know it's none of my business but I tried sitting on my hands and it didn't work.:o
Take care. xxxLife is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -

Afternoon everyone :hello:
Sorry I've been MIA again. So much to do, so little time. Where does it go?
DH and I had a little trip to Reading last weekend to watch my "boys" play against London Irish. Needless to say, we won (thank goodness). We went because we got a £9 Travelodge room ages ago. It was within walking distance of the stadium :j :j so we didn't have to pay extra (£7 ) for parking.
OS-wise, things are going ok. I seem to have a heavy week in the month, as far as grocery challenges go and then the rest is just a mini top-up as the month progresses. I've got a fair bit in the freezer, so the rest of the month will be spent in front of the slow cooker.
Some of my colleagues are "amazed" that I make my own soup. Is it such a foreign concept?I don't make it all the time, but when I do I take some to school in a flask for my lunch. I do get some appreciative comments though...
I'm dreading going back home today as there's a pile of ironing about the size of Everest. It needs doing, so maybe I'll suggest to DH that we crack open a bottle of wine tonight and do "tag team ironing".
Have a good day everyone.

Purpleclutterbuck - My daughter did her GCSE's last year and my 2nd son is doing his next year. We found that having a revision timetable - given out/worked on at school originally - helped enormously. We also came to the compromise that a couple of hours each evening then Saturday & Sunday mornings was enough to allow for Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights off. We certainly had our rows about it all though - the funniest was when my DD stood screaming at me 'Do you honestly expect me to go to school, come home, do homework then go to bed & then do it all again tomorrow?' I replied that that was what life was like for millions of us with jobs, families & stuff to do so, yes, I did expect her to do that!! It worked out ok in the end as she gained 8 A* - C GCSE's and is now happliy studying a diploma in childcare in college. Good luck!0

I'm sorry, but that stinks. If someone is ill, no matter what the condition or illness, then that person does not always have the energy / physical fitness / stamina to do what a healthy person would regard as normal stuff like showering & getting dressed.
Anyway, everyone needs pyjama days now & again!
Hi Floss
I know what you mean my mum is a bit..........well if its not hanging off or if theres no blood then it will be ok! I know sometimes she does feel pretty helpless that she cant 'make things better' but the majority of the time she thinks that if you just get up and get on with it then it will be ok.
Since I posted last I have got showered and dressed and done the dishes. Guess its a start! LolIts hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!0
