OS Daily TGIF 6th March

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Fri 6th March This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning. I am up early today, Don't know why, just could not sleep.
Work was average and got away on time. Got some fuel and then cooked some supper of reclaimed bacon steaks.
Reclaimed because I can spot the better quality pieces in a pack of cheap cooking bacon. So I reclaim the slightly out of shape gammon steak/loin chop and cut up the rest for pasta or quiche. Saves a bundle!
I hope it's an easy day today, only 8 hrs then get ready for the first fishing trip of the year on Saturday. 5am departure, so getting up at 4am or earlier, by 6am we should be somewhere around the Eddystone lighthouse with our tackle out. fishin.gif
Hope we catch a few things.
Well, have a nice day everyone...

    Morning all,

Looks like it's shaping up to be a nice day out. Hung my washing on the airer about 6am when I was downstairs getting a cuppa. Off to Bognor straight after work this evening to pick up some stuff from my little sis, so will be having supper with her - chinese perhaps :) Got some nice yorkshire ham & "Deli style" coleslaw - which is scrummy - in Sainsbugs the other day, so organised to make lunch for work too!

Someone (Sunnyday? - sorry brain freeze for a minute here) posted about blackberry oat bars somewhere on yesterday's thread - have you got the recipe??? I've got some blackberries that I need to use & was going to make muffins again, but they sound nice.

N9eav, lol at the image of you with your tackle out - reminds me of a picture Nelski posted last year of you doing the same.... (where is Nelski as well as many others still MIA???) Hope the fishing goes well & you get plenty of suppers.
GonzoAston, nope, not the full moon till 26th!
Csarina, great news about the house for you :)
Smokey, cereal is a very healthy supper I'll have you know... and everyone is allowed to be "bad mummy" every now & then. Or in my case, quite a lot at the moment...!
Kathy, sounds the like the moving plans are going full steam ahead - how exciting!
Betheebee, still full of energy as always, I really don't know how you do it.... (hope things are as positive as they can be with your DB's as well).
MSD, glad you managed to "talk" to Tristan a little, thinking of you.

((((((((((hugs)))))))))) for all those going through tough times, with worries or sadness.

    Morning all,

N9eav, not sure I would lke getting my tackle out at 5am in the middle of the sea, but each to their own :D have a good day.

Day off today :T need to have a good tidy through and hoover and mop, at least two loads of washing to do as well. Fahitas for tea tonight and dd will cook them as its her turn :T so a nice easy evening for me.

I went into town yesterday and spent far too much money on new tops :o , but I needed them and I had saved the cash. I met one of dd's school friends and her mum, and went and had coffee with them which was really nice as you dont get to meet too many of the other mums at secondary school, mind you I bought 2 sandwiches and a coffee and hot choc in M + S and it was over £10  good job we dont do it often :D .

We chose my dd's options yesterday, she is doing tripple science, french, sociology and drama, it was a difficult decission and we were still thinking about it untill we went into the meeting, but its done now, and we think we have made the right decission

DD is having a bagel orange juice, grapes and kiwi for breakfast, I shall have yougurt and fruit, and OH has a cup of tea.

HM lunch boxes for those two, not sure what I will have, but I wont starve.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning All

Very cold frosty start here this morning.

Am feeling better today but DS has a bad sore throat so he is at home. It has helped me make a decision though - was thinking about going to Lakeside today but will now go monday instead. Do need to pop out later to get a couple of birthday presents at some point.

Today is mainly housework day, will throroughly clean the bathrooms so stardrops and vinegar at the ready. Think is brie and bacon baguettes for dinner tonight so that is lovely and easy.

Hope to make butterfly cakes today, need some more chocolate brownies as they were very lovely, hope my energy levels keep up so can do this.

Off now to finish my tea.

Thick frost on the car this morning when I took hubby to the station, brrr.
Blondy, my hubby is partially sighted & works for his brothers in construction he can go months without work, yes it can be a nightmare, when we only have my £873 a month to live on as the mortgage takes nearly half of that.
Hugs to Chrisca for DGD, Smokey, MSD & PP.
N9eav, mind you don't get frost bite in your tackle
    Breakfast - porridge
    Lunch - egg sarnies
    Tea - chicken drumsticks
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Hi all - I feel I'm neglecting this thread lately but I am knee deep in packing and paperwork for the move. Whoever said that this would be a paperless era? And the French are worse than us Brits! Still, new internet, phone and TV all arranged now and due to be connected when we give them a date.

What really annoys me these days is having to keep stopping to do meals and cleaning and so on; I just wish it could all be put on hold while we pack and move!

Anyway, happy fishing N9eav - try and keep that tackle warm!

Must dash and get DH up - see you all later.

Thanks for all your good wishes and interest in my move. I shall come on here a lot more once we're over there. Believe me, I couldn't contemplate any of it without MSE!

Dinner tonight is undecided - I shall have a rummage in the freezer.

    (((Hugs))) to all in need.

RedRuby - I think it's three options and an optional extra. I'm sure that's what my two had to choose, but it may have changed. After all, with my youngest now 27, it was a few summers ago!

Ooh, by the way - DIL2 felt the baby move yesterday, and heard its heartbeat when she saw the midwife on Wednesday! Everything's progressing well but she is Rhesus Neg blood type so has to have a jab, apparently. I need to look that up on google.

Will do!! She was going to be moving back here, but now she's staying put in Bognor, but at her BF's mum's instead. So I will still be shuttling back & forth - just will have more time for it from the summer :) So maybe one day we'll have to have a mini-OS meet :)

Also re options (and EssexGirl) - they sound like a good mixture, sounds like it gives them both a good variety of subjects which I think is the important thing at this stage. My middle DD started with 4, and then dropped one a while ago, so she has extra time to give to the remaining 3.
