Hi, this is the Daily Thread for wenens4 March 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Hi,
I have been to bed honest, but cannot sleep that blasted woman has really got me steaming, so much running round in my head I just cannot settle.
Has anyone got a method of cleaning UPVC window and door frames??? I know I can buy a cleaner, but would prefer an OS method if I can find a good one. All the outside doors and windows at the house need some attention from a scrubbing brush or something similar........
I need to go to bed and sleep, I want to be on the bus into town just after 9.30 and get the rest of the formalities sorted, also need to go on the market for fruit and some salad stuff as I am in the town, a couple of other things I need to look for as well.

I'm not sure if I have any good advice but thought I would say "hi" at this unearthly hour.
I saw on a "Kim and Aggie" programme that vinegar mixed with water was good at cleaning windows but not sure of the ratio to be honest0 -
Morning. It's a more realistic hour now.
Supposed to see some snow this morning, but nothing here, must be higher ground. I am keeping one eye on the weather as we have the first fishing trip of the year and as it's 50 miles out in the channel, we really don't need any wind.
I am looking forward to it, but if it's borderline then I would rather cancel then be tossed about for 12 hours and catch nothing.
Nothing much new here. Work, eat, keep house tidy etc.
Not much OS here either. Bit dull really.
Have a nice day what ever you are doing.
They may cut interest rates today. What's the point. I still can't get a loan for less than 7.9% So why bother? Car finance is mostly 8-14%, so again, why bother with that too.... Waste of time in my opinionNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everybody,
Got a busy day ahead and am in serious need of some motivation.
made lots of minced beef (quorn) and onions yesterday so with a bit of mashed potato and steamed veg will be on shepherds pie for tea.
Starting to get into this OS way of life now, think i am driving all my friends mad with my eye for a bargain. Couldnt help buying more bargain £1 quorn in Asda yesterday, my freezer is now over run with the stuff, must stay away from Asda!!
Wishing everybody a good and frugal day

Morning all,
I'm shatered, got home after painting at DD2's and found DH emptying the out building. We have signs of Rats. We have so much stuff out there, some for free-cycle, stuff to re-cycle, furniture, boxes of stuff, decor stuff garden furniture and loads more. Took ages to empty and find out where they are getting in. We were frozen. DH will rake out between the stone walls and re-point today. It was gone 8pm by the time we finished. Showered, had dinner, thank God I had prept it, and fell into bed at 11pm.
Up at 5am and have done bills, paperwork. BM and WM on.
Roofer is coming to DD's to quote for a new roof today, might mean that after a new one has been put on I'll have to decorate again as the ceiling may suffer cracks. I have to decorate as it's the birthing room and DD2 is getting stressed, still have to make the curtains let alone finish painting.
Have made a cheese and tom omlette for her lunch so just have to micro it.
Made DH a chicken and stuffing sarnie for his. I'll take a leg of lamb to DD's that can go on cooking whilst I'm painting.
Tommorow I must blitz DD's so will take Stardrops, vinegar etc. don't think I'll have time today.
I'm off to catch up on here with another coffee. Back soon.0 -
Hi all - my PC is newly serviced and running like a dream. I really had forgotten how quick it was when I first bought it! It will life a lot easier now.
Today is going to be spent packing and making phone calls trying to get all the admin sorted out for our move. DH is not working today, so he will be making the phone calls, I've decided!
It was trying to sleet when I looked out of the window just now; I hope we're not in for anything to disruptive.
Well, I really haven't caught up with the thread lately and will try to a bit later. I was offline for most of the evening yesterday because the chap servicing the PC couldn't get the internet back on for a while and didn't know why! He was very determined and wouldn't leave until he'd sorted it out, so I'm very grateful to him for his persistence. I'm hoping that I can sort out a new internet provider in France before we move there, so I can just plug in and log on!
Anyway, I'm off for a shower. (((Hugs))) to all who are in need of one.

No snow here either. Just waiting to go home from work, if morning person ever gets it on time
Have you tried white vinegar to clean the windows and frames? Diluted in a little water.I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
Morning all
Overcast here today, but not too cold.
I dropped hubby at the station at 6 & am now eating my porridge & surfing.
WS BOW doesn't have a supervisor, she is in charge of the school, though I think the head thinks he is!
The list of teachers leaving is growing daily, with every new one we find out about we have a 'Did they jump or were they pushed' conversation. Interesting times indeed, but stressful for everyone.
Breakfast - Porridge
Lunch - Sarnies
Tea - Carbonara
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning
Hope everyone is well & massive hugs to those who aren't, going through bad times & receiving treatment :grouphug:
Busy day here have got DD at orthodontist at 2pm, DS1 meeting his advisor at 3.30pm & DS3 at the ordinary dentist at 4pm for a check up  DH & I will sort it out between us. Going into town this morning for various random things such as a stone for the gerbils to knaw on, some more Ugg style boots for me, toilet roll from Wilkies (too expensive in Asda yesterday) and other stuff from the list I made last night. Lunch will probably be a quick sandwich on the hoof & dinner is a chilli in the slow cooker
Have a good day everyone.

Morning All
Cold but bright here, no snow thankfully.
Been looking at the Travel Lodge sale but no rooms availiable when we want - oh well hopefully some people can get a bargain.
Having another office day today as didnt get much done yesterday, felt a but under the weather but couldnt put my finger on it. Well today it looks like I have a water infection so that maybe explains it. I am 40 in a couple of weeks and beginning to feel it now!
Anyway gonna put gammon in the slow cooker in a minute, will bake it later with a glaze and have it with mash and carrots tonight. Need to put some bread on as have been behind with making it lately and had to buy some which I wasnt happy about. Not sure if will have time for baking later but we will see. Housework wise - will just wipe down the kitchen work tops in there and sweep the floor. Cordless sweeper is not great but OK for a daily swish over.
Have a great day.
