Peabrain with all due to respect they put the offer out and Martin put it on the site and people want for it. It is fair game and I am sure that ING would see it that way. I believe that ING expected it this way or else they would not have had in the T&Cs according to Martin that they would close the account earlier.

As for Supermankelly do you know how easy it is to transfer money from an online account?

Yes, my ING account can transfer money to my bank in 2 working days. This account is so easy to run and they have excellent login security.

I think clicking print of a browser is a little different than, applying and supplying identification, getting an envelope and stamp and sending off a cheque for £1! Then have to follow withdrawl process which by the way won't be that easy with a savings (dont expect a debit card in the post), then have to cancel the account. Enjoy all the time on the phone to call centre hoping they have a free call line. Then you get to open junk mail every month from them for the 7 years companies keep customer data in there database, or until you move. ;)

or you can just say nah forget it, and have a cup of tea and do something you enjoy, forgetting about the £20 that you thought you scammed a bank for, who actually are the one running to the bank laughing (just to end with a punn;)

Or you could get the £20 and spend it on spelling lessons. By the way there is no stamp involved. The postage is free

I had the same problem and I just got off the phone with them. They said that if you didn't get your customer number, just put your full name and address on the back of the cheque and that should be fine. So you should be ok. Also, the man I spoke to said that if you applied before the offer ended, you would still get the £20 as long as the funds from your cheque were in your account by the 13th. Hope this helps.

I thought it said in the terms and conditions ( and so did martin in his e-mail ) that your cheque had to be in and cleared by the 31st March? Not 13th?

Can someone confirm, or even Martin confirm this is true?

I sent the cheque off yesterday!

They went for it for the reason that they thought it was a good thing to do for society? Or could greed have been the driver? I think we should be told.

As is usually the case with these promotional incentives, there will have been an allocation amount and once this amount was reached, the product will have been withdrawn. Does it really make any difference which people went for the offer?

Peabrain are you suggesting we must all now tailor our financial decisions for the good of society, rather than what is best for us individually? I'm sorry but I cant afford to do that.

My biggest issue is that I forgot it was a freepost address and I put a stamp on the envelope out of habit. There, I'm not a drain on society, I'm paying my way. ;)

STOP PRESS! 4 March '09 11.40am. As expected ING has closed the loophole. We managed to send out 2.9 million of the 3.3 million emails before it dropped it so well done to all those that got the deal! Any similar offers will always go in the free weekly MoneySaving email.

So wonder what percentage of the 2.9 million went for the £20. Thats not including those, like me, who look at the website first thing wendesday morning.

OK, so say 10% of those who got the emails did it. Thats approx. 300,000 people x £20 for IMG = £6 million !!!! Gulp....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
