    13.3 If:

    • you do not keep up-to-date with your payments;
    • either of us has given notice to end this Agreement; or
    • you go over the Credit Limit in any month,
you may not earn any Cash Back for that month
If you spent '1000s' during many months, made at least minimum payments on time and went over your limit only once, you should have received the cashback for all months besides one when you went over limit.
  • Please could somebody tell me if Sainbury did a cash back offer of 2% on all purchases at somepoint last year. I thought it was recommended by Martin as a best cashback. I have tried to search through old emails with no luck.
I am beginning to think I dreamt it!!!

Seems like Citibank has pulled the 1% cashback for existing cardholders. Certainly my rewards section has disappeared from the website. They tell me I should be hearing something soon. What scares me is what they intend to do with the £163 I've earned !

Anybody else with this card have a similar experience?

I think your memory lets you down. Sainsbury's used to offer the longest 0% on purchases. 2% cashback is offered by Amex Platinum on spending in excess of £7.5K and by Morgan Stanley for first 3-4 months.

So, here's a question: how do you lot go about predicting your card usage/spend for the next year? Do you use last year's usage patterns as a guide?

If say, you spent £3,000 this year, would you use that as the basis for getting a higher-paying cashback card for about 3k the following year?

I just have a couple of queries for egg money users before i sign up.

Firstly if I load my card with £200 but make a purchase for £300, will I be charged interest on the outstanding £100 until I pay it off, or will I be alright if I pay it off at the end of the month?

Also, it says that there are no charges for withdrawing cash, but can I be charged interest on this from as soon as I draw it out like a normal credit card?

I've read the benefits etc but just wanted to clarify these two points. Thanks

You don't pay any interest if you pay the balance in full before the payment date - the same as for majority of other credit cards.

Yes, if you draw more than the positive balance you have, you will be charged interest on negative (debit) balance from the date of transaction. Absolutely the same as for all CCs besides that you don't pay 2% for drawing cash.

I phoned Citi as soon as I noticed the "Rewards" had gone from my online banking screen - spoke to someone at a call centre somewhere, who assured me that the cashback was still on the card and that it would remain so until the offer was closed. That is probably the caveat - he didn't tell me the offer had closed.....

What with the problems with Egg, no cashback on my Citi card, a M&S Money card is looking all the more tempting by the minute...

Twice in last 6 months or so they have "Failed to Authorise" a transaction meaning I've had to use another card in a retailer. Once in Sainsbury's and again in a local jewellers. They can't give any reason for it when I call, they blame the retailer, but I've never had a problem like this before. And it was both my card and the additional card so it's not as if I have a damaged chip or anything like that. Secondly, I make regular payments by DD into my Egg savings accounts. Maybe I've just never noticed before but the payments which are taken from my current account on the 1st of each month, didn't "clear" until today - 10th April. I was under the impression - as I've seen with every other account I think I've had that operates deposit by DD, that the cash was available, if not that day, then the day after?

Got a decent whack of cashback this year, but I can't seem to rely on the credit card, and the savings account thing has really niggled me, so it looks like I'll be on the move again.
