Same with me in most cases Egg customer Service being fine and helpful. Like everything at times you may get unhelpful person on the other side.
The 1% cashback deal is also good.
If you are still not happy with Egg or MBNA try Citycard. Gives you 1% off on all travel payments. You do not need to collect points or anything.0 -
Hi All,
I have had a Morgan Stanley Platinum card for about 4 months now, the plan was to use it for 3 months (to use up the intro offer), then move back to the egg moeny card to maximise cashback (1% instead of MS's 0.5%).
Anyway, i have had a few problems and feel that i may not be the only one, and others may not have realised -
1. They charged me a late payment fee in the first month even though the payment wasn't late, 'a computer error', disputed and now resolved.
2. They have just told me that my cash back is a total of £33, now in the first 3 months i spent about £4600, and since i have spent 1500, so this should mean a cahsback of about £105. they ahve told me that this is a 'computer error'
So anyone with Morgan Stanley, i would watch your statements closely, as there are a lot of 'computer errors' going on...
Regards,

"Earn a huge 4 % on all purchases for the first 3 months
Plus you'll continue to earn 1% Cashback on all purchases
after the first 3 months"
The Platinum Cashback Card
(equates to a possible 120, apparently)
Not to be confused with their Classic Card.... with its typical APR of 34.9%..

I think this is a great card. From what I can see the amount of cashback do not have a limit. However getting the card can be hard. CapitalOne is know to select customer for some cards.0 -
Hmmm I had the same problem with my payments to Egg Money as well. When I set the account up it automatically placed me on the minimum payment setting despite me clicking on the full payment setting. I contacted them and they asked me to go to the DD section and change it myself. I tried three times to change it but change didnt stick ... it remained on minimum payment. Finally I sent them an email requesting that they do it for me which they have done. Personally I put it down to being a computer error but given what past posters have said it as well it seems like a concerted ploy. I very much doubt that such computer errors ever occur in customers favour. Perhaps this is something that Martin could enquire about?
Having said all this I am very happy with the Egg card. The money manager is very useful and at the moment Egg are paying people £10 to start using it. Far better to use Egg than a bog standard card anyway.
Also. I've got a debt of £1000 on another credit card at the moment. I was thinking of changing it over to the Tesco 2% balance transfer card for 12 months. The Tesco card has a maximum balance transfer of £2500. Does anybody know if its worth transfering the extra £1500 to my Egg Money card and shoving it in an ISA given that I have the transfer fee to pay or should you only do this sort of thing with 0% balance transfers?0 -
I have now heard of two cases (one on "Working Lunch" and the other on a local radio station) where people have managed to get their cash-back paid by Morgan Stanley when they have cancelled their card and the amount is less than £15. They managed this by kicking up a fuss and writing to senior management. In both cases the money was paid "as a gesture of goodwill".What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

That looks really good, think I'll give it a try. Do they charge an annual fee?
Thanks.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Most cashback cards offer you up to 3%, 1% being the usual, but would you not be better going with say the new Halifax One Card that has 12 Months 0% on purchases, providing you pay the minimum payments?
Hence placing the money you would have spent into a high interest account, the best regular saver at the time i think is HSBC with 6% and monthly interest from a £1, or the A&L ISA for ~8% if you have it.
This can become tricky to work out, and the method i propose is better the earlier you purchase any items, as the longer you could have gained interest.
e.g spend 1k when you recieve the card, and earn up to 8% interest over 12 months using a 0% purchase card, or 1% instantly with a cashback card.0 -

Looks good. I have exhausted the Egg Money Card cashback (maxed out the 1% at £200 cashback), so need another cashback card.
I use the GE Money Card (3% CB, no longer available to new customers) for petrol or if it is a Tesco petrol station my Tesco Clubcard Plus Account to get double Clubcard points (if spent on deals, I work it out as effectively 8% CB - shortly no longer available to new customers).
I was then using the Egg Money Card on any other spends. But will look to this now.
Can't see any mention of annual charge
PS - you can also get a card with a dog, pig or dolphin on - only trouble is my wife will want one!
PPS - I have looked at using an 0% interest card for 12 months. However as your drip spending and then effectively drip feeding a savings account, the annaul rate you get is a lot lower than quoted, then when you take into account tax and transfer times as well, about 1/2 the quoted rate. For instance, the ICICI rate of 6.05% equates to about 2.55% CB. Which I give you is better than the traditional 1%, but doesn't beat all situations (eg GE money, Tesco Clubcar Plus, Amex and Capital One).
Also, for us Stoozers, we might not be able to get one of these cards or the credit limit is so low that it's not workable. Also, we make more money from an immediate Balance Transfer than waiting for a slow spend, so our credit limits are maxed.
T&C's:

You will be enrolled in the Capital One rebate programme. You will receive a rebate of 4% on all purchases you make using your card that are applied to your account within the first three months of your account opening date. You will receive a rebate of 1% on all purchases you make using your card that are applied to your account after the date that occurs 3 months after your account opening date. The first rebate will be payable in the January after your enrolment in the rebate programme and annually thereafter. Each rebate will be credited to your account unless we notify you of another method. No rebate will be paid to you if at that time you are in default under the terms of this agreement. However the amount of that year's rebate will accrue and may be payable in a following year. No rebate will be payable if this agreement is terminated or your account is closed. No rebate will be made in respect of cash withdrawals, balance transfers, or purchases which are refunded by the retailer. We may change the rules of this programme. We will tell you about any change.0 -

How does this compare to the "Tesco Clubcard Credit Card" available now?
"The fastest way to collect Clubcard Points Extra points on ALL your spending - 5 points for every £4 you spend at Tesco or Tesco.com and 1 point for every £4 you spend everywhere else!"
When will the Clubcard Plus account be stopped? Any ideas?0
