  • Just been contacted by Morgan Stanley, I will have been with them twelve months on the 17th of June but have always paid back the full monthly amount every month by direct debit They inform me that on the 1st of June they are going to charge me a £20 annual fee, I don,t have to do anything they will automatically stop the fee from my account, Good of them isn,t it? They go on to say that this does not affect any of the great benefits I currently enjoy, That,s where they are wrong, I only had the card because it did not have an annual fee and gave cash back Needless to say I do have to do something, I need to cancel my card, not sure which other card can replace it, Did have the Abbey card, they stopped cash back and gave points to be redeemed against goods instead, not too suitable for me.Martin gave the Morgan Stanley as a best bet in the latest newsletter, Don,t know if what has happened to me is a "one-off"or if it is general and Martin is not yet aware of it?

Can someone tell me when the 3% introductory offer came in? I took out an Amex Platinum credit card for the sake of the cashback, following Martin's recommendation. I can't remember what exactly the prospects were at teh time but it seemed worth doing. Now, on the anniversary of the card, I get £38 from spending over £5000, which doesn't seem very much. I can't imagine I'd have bothered taking it out for that, but obviously I haven't had 3% for any of that.

So either (a) they've made a mistake or (b) this came in after I'd signed up. I do seem to remember something in Martin's newsletter about a change in Amex. Does anyone know?

I have just cancelled my morgan stanley 'classic' cash back card. They informed me that it is only the classic cards being charged the £20 fee. My husband has the platium card and did not receive the letter but will also be cancelling his. As the morgan stanley was the back up card to the amex I now need another back up card.

    YBS seems good

    * 1p back for every £1 spent using your card for the first £2,000 spent in any one year, and
    * 1p back for every £2 spent using the card after the first £2,000 spent in any one year

I tried to change from the Morgan Stanley Classic Card to the Platinum but they wouldn't let me . So I am cancelling it.

I have had my application for the YBS card accepted and have this morning posted off the signed form.

Has anyone tried out the Motley Fool credit card yet? They offer 1% cashback but I am not sure about upper limits.

I think the Motley Fool CC is an American product and not available in the UK. The clue lies in the spelling of "check"
