Not only have MBNA terminated their arrangement with Conran they have now reduced the final payout from £1 per share to around 80p per share. I know the £1 wasn't guaranteed but this is sneaky. Fortunately we now have our egg cards and the cut up Conran cards will soon be winging their way back to MBNA.

Just noticed the "reduced cashback" as well. Thanks MBNA nice leaving present. Using egg now, but for how long

You may be right in which case I've done MBNA a disservice. I've written to them to terminate my agreement and mentioned the reduced cashback. If it wasn't their doing I'm sure they'll put me right in which case I'll post their response.
  • Hi everyone,

In the past I've successfully haggled with an existing credit card provider to get a better interest rate - I was wondering if it's possible to do the same with cashback offers?

My morgan stanley card was 2% for the first 3 months, then back to 1% - but they're offering 3% to new customers now.

Anyone else tried this or do you just have to go elsewhere for better cashback?

I applied for a Conran card after reading about it on Martins site.

Got accepted, got the card through. Did wonder why cashback wasnt mentioned in any of the documentation and the card said MBNA Beyond.

    Wont be using it. :naughty:

Ahh in that case sorry I'm sorry for slagging MBNA. I still will not be using the Conran\MBNA card again

    Hi everyone

We have just closed our Morgan Stanley card as we now use Egg. We are told that we have £24 cashback due from Morgan Stanley, but they only pay out in £15 sums, so we can wave goodbye to the other £9.

Can they do this? It seems like corrupt practice to us.

I've had my Conran for a few years, so the sign up process is a bit hazy, but I seem to remember that the cashback was supposed to be at least 0.8%.

It's just that they've been generous these last few years and normally given 1%.

I have a Morgan Stanley cashback card and have just received a cheque for £75.00 for the last years cashback. With this months statement I have also received a slip saying that from 1st June Morgan Stanley are going to introduce a £20.00 per annum fee for having their card Should I cancel my card and try a different company ? it seems daft to pay £20.00 a year to have a cashback card.It seems to defeat the object .I must admit I do pay my card off at the end of each month ,so perhaps that is why they want to charge a fee for my card Any thoughts on where I could go.I am a pensioner with a fixed income of around £12k per annum
  • I too got a letter from Morgan Stanley today. I have not hesitated - paid off the balance and cancelled the card.
Be aware that the cash back you have earned at time of cancellation is only paid to you in multiples of £15 - (I have lost £11 in cashback)
