  • It is nice to hear people getting 0.5%+ cashback, while we appear to be stuck with a 0.25% deal with our Nationwide credit card. My wife and I have just been refused an Egg Money credit card (the one that pays 1% cashback) for a second time. Once again, Egg have so far refused to give a reason why. We overpay our mortgage by £100 each and every month, always pay off the balance on our existing credit card and have no outstanding loans whatsoever. We have each checked our own credit rating with Experian and that is fine. Are we just too good to be given credit? Is the prospect of our getting cashback without paying interest putting Egg off? Bizzarely, we were sent application details for the Egg credit card (which isn't a cashback card!) at the same time they refused our second application for the Egg money credit card. Just how can we get a better-paying cashback card than our current Nationwide deal?
  • I'm new to the forum so sorry if you have covered this but looked through and couldn't find anything else on it. Point me in the right direction if you have.

I received a new set of T & C's from Morgan Stanley regards the cashback card I have with them. I pay as you should by variable direct debit in full every month on one of these cards but reading through it it looks like there going to reduce the length of credit time given if you pay in full by Direct Debit. I think they are reducing it by up to 15 days in April on my account. If you organise your own payments I don't think the credit date will change.

This could come as a nasty shock if it brings it in front of your pay day suddenly!

Has anybody else had this info or have I have misread the new T & C's?
    Cheers
  • Hi All.

I have tried to search for this specific topic, so please excuse me if anyone has already answered my question. Consider the following scenario:

I go to Tesco and spend £40 on beer.

I get £40 cashback at the till whilst paying with my Egg Money card.

What happens now? I'm guessing it must be one of three things:

    1. Egg pays me a whopping £0.80 cash back reward on the entire transaction,

    2. Egg pays me a slightly less whopping £0.40 on the beer only,

    3. Egg classes the £40 cashback as as cash withdrawl/advance and charges me accordingly (whilst paying only £0.40 cash back reward).

Any ideas what I can expect to happen? I have so far avoided using the Egg Money for cashback in case I get stung for it. If option 1 is the reality then that's all the better, as I will effectivley be earning cash back rewards on purchases made in cash.

    Any info greatly appreciated.

Egg Money is a credit card so what you mention is impossible, as you cannot get cashback at the till on a credit card. You can only do this with a debit card.

Mine took about a week to arrive - no problems and helpful customer service.

I can second this. It may be worth giving them a ring if you've not heard anything for over a fortnight.

I read the change the same way - if you pay off the full amount every month you now have to pay 13 days earlier. Is there any point in complaining about this ?

thanks guys. just phoned them, should have the cards this week. apparently if you ask for a joint accont with 2 cards it can take longer. will be about three weeks from the time of application by the time it 'should' arrive.
