I spent £17,865 in the last year on my Morgan Stanley Platinum credit card.... I'm wandering if I can get more cashback!
Again, Amex is not widely accepted... so maybe Egg {Money? }is the way?
I see people mentioning further cashback that Egg provides, like 10% at Currys etc, do you just use your card and its automatically added onto your cashback total, or do you have to go via a link from the Egg website??
I ask this, as I go via Quidco for cashback!! If its ontop of Quidco (meaning you don't have to go via Egg site), then that will persuade me to sign up with Egg!!
Can someone please clarify for me??
Many thanks.0 -

I spoke to Egg today - the 1% cashback was only gauranteed until 2007 (which it now is of course!). They could neither confirm nor deny if the 1% was going to continue! I wait with baited breath as i don't want to apply if its not going to give me my cashback.
I have just got the Amex Platinum (having cancelled my BA Amex card), but a decent credit cars is handy to have. However given the decent cashback on Amex I would always use this first - most supermarkets/garages/decent eating places/and hotels etc take it which is fine as I use it mostly for work stuff.I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

Hi, im a student in my first year, and i love the mse site and forums, especially matched betting
I was wondering, what is the best cashback card for me? i only work part time, about 90 quid a week, but i spend next to nothing as i live at home, and my accounts are all very healthy.
with my low income and student status, am i likely to get turned down for the Morgan Stanley Platinum?
with the conran card > does "Earn five shares of the Card's profits for every £100 spent at Conran and one share of the Card's profits for every £100 spent elsewhere " mean 5% at conran and 1% cashback elsewhere or something to do with shares? just a bit confused, sorry.
if i can't get the MSP card, which is better from the other two 1% cards?0 -

I have just phoned Egg... and the lady confirmed it is 1% with no expiration date of the cash back percentage.

What is cash back?
Cash back is paid on purchases; it is at least 1% and is paid to your Egg Money account. Cash back is paid annually during March, as long as your total cash back total earned over the year is more than £5. You'll earn cash back up to a maximum amount of £200 in each 12 month statement period commencing with the March statement each year up to and including the February statement the following year.0 -

I've had a letter from Morgan Stanley explaining that from 1st October 2006 the cashback will be reduced so that all spending will be rewarded at 0.5% rather than the first £2000 at 1% and the remainder at the lower rate.Moggles wrote:I have a Morgan Stanley Platinum card. The cashback rate remains unchanged.
I just phoned Morgan Stanley to check the cashback rate, and they confirm for me it is still 1% upto £2k, then 0.5% thereafter.
The always-on 1% of EggMoney is more attractive though!!
I might go for an Amex too and see how that works out ... but maybe in 6 months time (if the cashback rate stays!!?)0 -
I think (my opinion) you will be able to increase the credit limit after a few months of using your card without faults.MrBen wrote:Is the egg cashback credit card mentioned in this article is the only credit card egg do? I ask this because there is an 'egg card' advertised on the front page as being 0% interest for 6 months, etc.. Just wondering if this is the same card or a seperate card egg do. If it is the same then I can pay off the amount I'm spending after 6 months instead of monthly!? Even better!0

Just signed upto Egg Money online, and it confirms as 1% cashback on all spending.
(another benefit is that its essential for stoozing ... an option I'd like to have, should I be in the position to utilise)0 -

A lack of communication?
I have just phoned them again and was directed to the statement as per the website "At least 1% cash back on all purchases guaranteed until 2007".
the 1% cash back appears to be 'under review' and they would not Guarantee the 1% cash back will continue beyond the end of this month!

The advice from Egg was hold off until a decision is made!!!
Now I'm well confused.....did you get DEFINITE/Written confirmation that the 1% CB will continue until the end of 2007?I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

nothing was guaranteed. (uh-oh!)
You could be right, but I hope not, for obvious reasons, inc I've already been approved and cards are on their way in 7 days.
I guess we'll soon find out what they have planned...0 -
