    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1076883546,34894,

thanks for that, while its quite similar, it doesnt mention the cashback, i dont want to assume it applies, but i think it would, can any1 confirm. But it does state that you can put the card in credit.

Would charging the card with a credit amount from a direct debit, mean i would increase my credit limit by that amount? i have limit of £500, if i put £1000 in by direct debit, would i be able to spend £1500, while i had the £1000 in there in credit? would i earn cashback too?

    thanks
  • The amount you are able to spend would go up by the amount you put on the card... so as you pointed out, £500 credit limit plus £1000 onto the card equals £1500 to spend.

You get cashback on purchases up to a limit of £200 yearly (1% of £20,000).

Hi. Does anyone know how the Conran Card cashback scheme works? How are the 'shares' of the card's profits converted to cash?

Conran seems to have quite a good reputation here on these boards. I applied for mine last week and got an instant approval online with a credit limit quoted as well. Now, I have had nothing through the post yet, but I hope I really have been approved as I've had quite a few credit checks this month, so hoping that hasn't affected their decision.

Unfortunately GE appear to have stopped their 3% cashback card. I tried applying for it a long time back but got rejected. Does anyone know about any other cards permanently offering a 1% or more level of cashback? (by this I mean not having a promotional period or tiered levels of cashback, e.g. AMEX Platinum)

I never bothered with GE. It's had so many problems since it started up, it seemed the extra cashback you would have earned from this card you would have spent on phone calls to their useless customer services and trying to chase them for errors on your account or incorrect statements!! Count yourself lucky you didn't get GE - I would just go with Conran.

I use a Debenhams credit (not store) card and it gives me effectively 2% back in debenhams vouchers as i shop a lot in there so the vouchers are as good as cash to me.

The card is a mastercard and gets 2% back for use outside debenahams and 1% back for use in debenhams although you still get nectar points in the store too.

20% discount in their restaurants and coffee shop + discount vouchers for their sales are always coming thru so it works for me and pretty good

    It is not correct.
You will get 1% back when used within Debehaham and 0.5% outside Debenaham.

Sorry i should have been clearer but it is correct for the debenhams gold credit card

2% on non debenhams purachases 1% on debenhams purchases + still use your nectar card.

Earn points to treat yourself at Debenhams
As an extra privilege for Debenhams Gold Credit cardholders, you will earn DOUBLE points on all your purchases made with your card outside Debenhams for the first six months from activating your card.
    For purchases made elsewhere
    £2 = 2 points
After six months you will earn points at the usual rate:

    For purchases made in
    Debenhams stores For purchases made
    elsewhere
    £1 = 1 point £2 = 1 point
    200 points = £2 minimum voucher value†

    i.e. 1%/0.5%

Well what a friendly welcome to this forum NOT

I think my above post made it pretty clear that it was only for 6 months as its in the text of the post unless ur blind grumbler, i wonder why your called grumbler is it because you moan about everything and are always right??

Pardon me for thinking i was perhaps making people aware of a reasonable credit card they might not have been aware of

I do wear glasses, but I am not blind. I checked again and I cannot find anything about 6 months in your first post. Wasn't your second post supposedt to endorse the first one?
Sorry i should have been clearer  but it is correct for the debenhams gold credit card
After reading this straightforward statement one still needs to make some calculations to see that 2%/1%* cashback is in fact only for first 6 months and 1%/0.5% thereafter. :D

    *EDIT 1%/1% in fact

The 6 month piece is MORE THAN CLEAR in the post above and i could have sworn almost all credit card deals were SHORT TERM offers but as usual there is always one that has to try and be a know all so Grumbler stop trying to cut the offer down , it is clearly 2% outside debenhams for the first six months!!!!!!!

Think ill go back to hotukdeals where the people seem to be a bit more friendly that you do
