    Hello,
Once you have made your pament you will need to wait a few days for it to clear. In between if you go over your limit the card company will charge you. This is correct for all credit cards in use. The payment due date is shown within the statement and must reach them by this date. This is not a daate you will need to make payment by.
Now days very few companies will waive the fee for new customers and dont look at them as loyal. If you had been with them for a few years than Egg may have waived the fee due to being a loyal customer.

Egg is not a bad card like everything you will need to know the due by dates etc.

Life isn't fair. It's just fairer than death, that's all.

I too got an Egg Money Card on the recommendation of Martin Lewis. I recently went to pay for some items at Ikea and was told there was an excess for using a credit card. The check-out told me it was also common practice at Tesco but that they do not inform you (I do not know if this is true) There is also an extra charge with Easyjet.
How many more companies charge extra for using a credit card and does this defeat the simple action of using the Egg card at all times.

It is not true that Tesco charge customers for paying by credit card. If you read your receipt it will say something along the lines of a handling charge was made but Tesco will pay it. Ikea DO charge extra so I always use Switch.
  • I wanted to make a point that in Martin's Tips email last week, he said stay away from Egg and gave them a very hard time. Although he was specific to the original Egg card I think it would have been worth mentioning that the Egg Money card DOES have 1% cashback (more in certain cases) and is a decent card.
  • What is the best credit card for cashback, income of over £20k and probably spend between 5 - 10k a year on it?

I would go for either the MBNA Conran card or the America Express Blue credit card (quickly though, as these may be withdrawn soon).

Both are 1% cashback payers; the AmEx gives only 0.5% on the first 2K of annual spend.

  • Can you use the cashback cards on Ebay, through Paypal, and still recieve the cashback, does it also apply to all websites, you buy through too?

Never had 1 before, so dont know if it cant be used the same as switch

    Thanks
  • yeah, know the feeling. I called Morgan Stanley to try & take advantage of their low balance tranfer rate until 2010. Got told the same "New customers only" Also asked them to lower the standard APR on my account even though i pay the bill in full most months...... They wouldn't budge. Only reason i'm keeping them is for the cashback.

These cash-back cards are not debit cards (such as switch) but credit cards. So they operate in the same way as all other CCs in as much as you settle up the bill once a month. You can choose to pay off the whole or just part of the outstanding balance. The only difference with these particular cards is you get a 1 or 2 % cash "bonus", paid once a year, on the amount of money that has been charged to the card.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Hi Guys
Does anyone use a Goldfish card? I have a Morgan Stanley card which now pays 0.5% cashback and I think, in comparison, Goldfish pays 1 point per £ but when it comes to redeeming the points the ratio is something like 70% of the points e.g. 750 points could get you £50 worth of vouchers. This has to be better than 0.5%?
