How do you clean a toilet?

As the title says is there a cheaper alternative to using toilet limescale cleaners?0

Well, limescale removers and bleach do different things, so it depends on which one you're after in particular.
I'm sure someone will be along soon though with advice involving vinegar, bicarb?, coke, and possibly even Stardrops :rotfl:
I used a cheap supermarket limescale cleaner a little while back, and it did a grand job, so they don't have to be expensive to do what you want them to do
EDIT: Above wasn't meant to sound rude. I use/have used all the above and they can be great cleaners for various jobs0 -
Supermarket own brand sterident type denture tablet, if you are aiming to clean up the toilet bowl, just drop one in last thing at night and leave overnight for a sparkling bowl. Not sure what you could use if you've got a crusty rim (if you'll pardon the expression) - it's hard to get the tablet working under there!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

A couple of tablespoons of lemon or lime juice last thing at night works wellThe best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0

I use them to help keep the loo clean and they do work but I've found a cheap supermarket own brand cleaner does help with under the rim. I've heard that cheap / flat cola can also be used to clean toilets but never tried that one2013 Free Money - £363.44 Topcashback

I usually chuck cheap (but the thick) bleach under the rim after I use the loo at night. My loo always looks really clean. and I dont have a prob with any limescale marks.0

I found two things that were moneysaving and helpful. The first is bleach tablets at the local pound shop, you dilute 1 tablet to a litre of water there are 36 tablets for a £1. I swish this under the rim last thing at night.
The second is a toilet brush, I just do a quick swoop round with the brush first thing, no cleaners just the brush and flush.0 -
Under the rim and for stubborn limescale stains in the toilet, buy a pummice stone . Soak it in water before using, it will also remove limescale stains from enamel baths without scratching.;)0

Could you put this in the actual cistern? Then when you flush it would go round the top of loo rim.
I'd like to try that. I do put the bleach tablets from £1 shop in the cistern before bed some nights and that works ok.

My lovely plumber says not as bleach is corrosive and can shorten the life of your loo, he is particularly scathing of the blue things.
He says quilted toilet roll was designed by plumbers to keep them in a job. LOL0
