I don't do this ...0 -
The Boots system produces almost twice as much energy on its highest setting, 10 joules/cm2 against 6 joules/cm2 for the Remington. Generally speaking (in hair removal) more energy is a good thing if your skin can take it without burning. Professional systems use higher energy still (up to 20 joules/cm2). It could be that Remington is overly optimistic in their sales pitch, or maybe their multi flash at lower power does a better job. FWIW I would choose Boots.
If this is the case and skin can take it. Would it be worth firing 2 shots one after the other to get maximum energy out of it?
Can you tell i've become THAT desperate ...

I pluck the hair. As I had used this for wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey over the 12 weeks with no real difference at all on my chin area. (between beginning of May-beginning of Septemeber) So I took to plucking. Lasted 3 weeks then it grew back but was still thick stubble so back to the shaving IPL. Have to be honest and say i'm totally sick of it now
There are still 2 very dark and thick ones that keep coming back, but the rest have gone finer on my chin.
I am using it roughly every 2 weeks now and shave the ones I see every few days (it's generally only a few that need shaving, so not a tedious task). I had started electrolysis before the summer and I find this far easier (and cheaper).
I won't tackle my legs because I just don't have the time, but I am doing armpits and bikini line...I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -

:rotfl: Well you could try and it might be better - but 2 shots of 10 joules won't have the same effect as 1 shot of 20 joules I'm sorry to say. Maybe think about it this way - if you were to heat two cups of water to 50 degrees, then add one cup to the other, you still only have 50 degree water not 100 degree water. As you probably know, it's the energy (heat) that you get to the root of the hair that is important in "killing" it. I have a theory that plucking between sessions may cause unhelpful, though temporary, changes in the hair follicle, causing the energy to be less well absorbed where it's needed - so if at all possible use other methods of hair removal between IPL treatments (if that's applicable to you - sorry I haven't made it through the whole thread!)0 -

Well iv had one session on all the places i wanted to zap, but not my legs. That would be too much work.
That was a few days ago and new hair is growing back in, thick and strong. Im not too concerned though as its only been one session. How many sessions before im likely to see any difference?
Also i zapped my upper lip on the dark setting but i didnt shave as iv never shaved there, do you think the BSS will work on short fine hair without it being shaved? It really smarted when i used it on my upper lip actually, almost felt like a quick burn. Im hoping i can use it there and on my chest hair without having to shave as i'd hate to be stubbly.
Has anyone else used it like this?0 -
Hi everyone, i've spent ages trying to read all the posts on this thread, it's so interesting!!
I was wondering if anyone uses it who has an issue like pcos or anything and if it's worked as i'd LOVE to buy it rather than fork out thousands in salon costs, but am not sure if it'd work at all
I had salon treatment on my chin / neck / face about 5 years ago and it did actually work for a while and I only had 1 treatment, but 5 years later and obv the hair growth has long been back and is very dark on my legs & underarms & face & stomach, thighs, BL, you name a place and theres hair! Even in some cases with 3/4 hairs in one follicle making it look even worse! Doesn't help also that after shaving (which I have to leave a while inbetween sessions as its too irritating for my skin adn I get a much better result the longer it's left), you can still see dark pin pricks in myskin where the follicles are as the hair is so dark
Has anyone with real dark hair issues used it and found it effective?? Ahh how nice it would be to not find 12 new hairs every morning after you thought you plucked them all the night before!!:rotfl:
JemDebt which IS NOW GONE before 31.12.2011: CC - GONE!!! :j Loan: GONE!! :j

I got mine at the begining of december I think but i only used it twice. I can't shave every week because I irritate a lot (like with any other method of removing hair) ... so I shaved at about 2 weeks and used it. Next weekend it will be my 3rd go, it's probably too early to see results but I keep hoping. if I get to use it once at 4 weeks to keep hairs away and without shaving/waxing irritation I would be very happy with the result.0

So iv treated my forearms twice now and my upperlip twice, other areas have still only had one go. I have to say i havent noticed a difference yet but i will keep on going. Hoping this thing works as i still have to pay the credit card bill either way and i'll be !!!!ed handing over the cash if im not getting any good results.
I just need patience i think0
