I would willingly do so, but I don't know what the format should be. I know I'm going to find it very difficult to just post a "shopping list" of my day out, and I love to read of other peeps exploits.

Surely, if we don't discuss potty training, leaving home after a row, messy eating etc on here (must stop describing my DH!) there's no need to complicate things with 2 boards - is there?

If it's felt necessary, then I assume Grabbit posts will just be something like:

Hi. Today I got xyz, couldn't get abc, but managed to find pqr. It costs £x. There's an ACM voucher for Newbie & Silly for 150 points when you buy skin cream.

    And that's it, is it?

    xx

I have to echo this. I love to read SandraScarlett's posts. They make the whole shopping experience so interesting.

The tales that go along with our purchases are what make many of us read the thread. Without those it would be soooo boring.

my thought exactly SS. I don't think I will bother posting anymore:(

snap, I've only recently started posting after lurking for a very long time but i think ill stop for fear of offending someone.
Im not on here to make enemies but by the same token im not on here to make friends either...the bits of chat that go on on this thread was ideal for me, and made it welcoming enough for me to feel brave enough to post.
  • and  Who's complaining? about the way things are posted.

Also can the word police please give us a lesson as to whats acceptable and what's not as i'm sooo

I just love visiting this board and found everyone so helpfull and everything I read to be very usefull, I dont mind reading everyones post, if you are a regular it hardley takes no time at all and I look forward to catching up every day.

Please someone advise as i'm worrying about what to post and what not to, think i'll just leave it for now and go away and have a little

CPG was going to set up a new thread ( I think it has been closed by Glad) in the moneysavers arms this was to post all the stories etc re bootsing, (hence her starting the thread with all the details on the first few threads on grabbit ) like your antics with your friends etc.
None of us are saying that any of the stories are not welcome it is just that SOME people complain when there is too much chat which threatens the existance of grabbit. Personally I love the chat about shopping trips, tips and shopping lists especially your stories, I have never been to London:o but I feel you have given me a virtual tour :D .. well a few times over !
This is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.

  • I've just noticed Soap and Glory is 1/3 off online. Does anyone know if this is in store as well? I'm getting a few treats for my friend's birthday (and probably for me too!) but it won't be a huge order. I can save postage costs if the offer is on in store too, otherwise I'll make bigger savings online if it's full price in store.

Also, I doubt people memorise stock, but it's worth asking! My friend has asked for the shower foam and it's out of stock online and not available in the Burnley store. Does anyone remember seeing it in Manchester at all? Might have to make a special trip for her if they have it! Thanks!

I've just looked for MSE Andrea's last reminder on the Boots thread about chat...

Sorry guys, yet another reminder about chat. Could you just stick to discussing the bargains so people looking for them can find them?

    Ta! :)

Now this doesn't mean you can't chat about your shopping trip and bargains etc but is usually popped into the thread when users start discussing other subjects or getting really off topic with pictures of families etc. No-one wants to stop any community feel to this thread or any other on MSE but it does have to be remembered that many more people read the thread than post on it and it can sometimes get a bit bogged down. No need to go posting bargains in red or toning down your shopping trip report just be aware that too many off topic post can irritate. Its worth noting though that the last time Andrea came into the thread with the above post was as oh as far back as January :D

As regards swapping/gifting vouchers/goods yes this is against the rules of MSE as posted here. This is for your safety and any posts that are reported as asking for or offering anything will be removed, this includes asking for charity donations. MSE cannot be held responsible for people not holding up their end of any swap and always remember this is the internet and you have no way of knowing if people are who they say they are.

As regards your own safety then I'd certainly agree with jazzteddy who mentioned not wanting to post about their personal circumstances as I'd remind you again anyone can read MSE and posting too much info on an open forum can leave you open to attention you may not want.

As for potting training, well my daughter is 18 now so well past that discussion :rotfl:

ps I'm not the word police either just giving a few pointers :D

That will change easily enough if people take this opportunity to go over there now and do the boots chat. ;)

skibster, you are one of the few names i recognise from both threads and ive noticed youre always friendly and a very helpful poster. However if im brutally honest (and im nothing if not honest!) i have to say that sometimes when ive looked on the chat thread ive noticed some disparaging remarks about this thread (not from everyone i must add) and that, coupled with the obvious closeness of the posters has put me off from joining in (bcoz i love this thread lol) I realise as a newbie there is probably a history that i am not aware of but is is definately off putting (for me anyway)
Anyway, hopefully it will all get sorted soon and everyone will be happy..xxx

I've just got back from a lovely weekend in Windsor. Of course had a good look round the Boots there and was very pleased with my finds.
The clearance section at the back of the store (upstairs) had loads of Sanctuary Travel kits reduced £1.7* (and some on the Sanctuary section)

Didn't get any as I was too excited by the shelf full of S&G Admit it you want me :j They are marked up as £4.75 but scan through as £3.25:T I bought 4 but there must have been at least 20 left.

The only other clearance worth mentioning is the No7 stand had lots of tanning products reduced.

Now we know where they all went to! Too far for me, but well done on finding them, and best of luck to you in that area of the world :T Hope someone from here is able to grab 1 or 2. Also just seen that Admit it set is back in stock on line. Know it has been in & out of stock recently. HTH

Goodness knows, I had over 50 kind souls send things in the end, it was an unbelievable response and I have lots of finishing touches for the next lot I do for their sale next time. I wrote down all the names, what they were sending etc and then sent a pm thanking the senders when the items arrived :D

I can not remember who the person was(or was it two  ) who's parcel failed to turn up and the list went into the recycling a long time ago.

I'm sure Nuninge would be able to remember though :D

I shall send her a pm asking, to save clogging the thread up :D

No probs, it's just that some time after Nuninge had posted that she'd forwarded my things to you (as she had sufficient), and you had about 3 dozen baskets to fill, I sent you a PM asking if my items were OK, and never heard, so I just wanted to know if they got there - that's all.

But I do agree with the comments made by various OPs, that we're not suppose to exchange addresses and items. I've only sent things, never asked for any, and after reading about the various probs on here, I think I'll stick to my DGCs Sunday School (and the Church it's attached to) for my donations, either in money or in kind.

Hope that doesn't offend anyone. BTW regarding these various proposed and existing Boards, and I assume we're all allowed to feel free to discuss this issue, I agree with OP (sorry, I forget in a flash who posted what!), that though Refugees seems very chatty and friendly, the main contributors appear to be a group of friends that all know each other outside of MSE.

To tell you the truth, I feel I'm intruding on a Private Conversation on that board, and that is an observation, and not a criticism (before I get tied to the post and roasted in hell!).

Obviously there are good reasons why they prefer to post on there, and not on Facebook, or send emails, but it is mainly about peeps private lives and I feel as if I'm intruding, even by reading their posts - they don't often seem Boots related.

In fact, I'm getting really confused about Facebook, Refugees, Grabbit etc, and though poor CPG is unlikely to please even some of the people some of the time, it really would help to have clarification from her and, er, um, Glad(?) I think, who is an MSE er, um, "moderator" - is that the right word? - as to what should be posted where, bearing in mind peeps preferences.

Perhaps there is a way we can contact Glad via a PM? I know a lot of people may agree or disagree with something the person before has posted, but if they've read some of the "Gates" both on here and Refugees - who can blame them for not posting?

Totally of topic, but when we were fighting to get off the train at Liverpool Street yesterday, I was calling out "Scuse us please, Elderly Pensioners coming through!", which relieved the tension a bit as everyone was squashed like sardines, and had to then squash intimately IYKWIM!!!!

So I added "Fought in the war we did!" and some young girl said "Nah, you're not old enough" and I said "87 next week!" and she said "Blimey, you 'arf look good on it!"

Must be all the Boots cream (YES! Got it Boots related in the end!)

    xx
