Boots Grabbit Bargains Part 51 - Post your finds here

The refugee thread was(As it was designed to be) full of chatty posts about the posters and their non-Boots experiences.
The new thread was supposed to take away what some deem to be chatty posts on this thread, but are still Boots related (Shopping lists, SA Experiences, etc), leaving this thread solely for the posting of new offers.
If there can only be this thread and the refugee thread then everyone might as well just keep posting in this one.
Well, having read recent posts on the other boots thread as well as the grabbit thread,
I can see there is a rather large divide between what is ideal and needed here and what is reality.
I personally have always tried to be helpful, friendly, understanding and as on topic as much as possible,
but I am unsure as to how 'chatty' my posts actually are. I think a bit of added info and humour,
shows what a bunch of friendly bargain hunters we are. If this thread was completely devoid of any kindness, fun etc,
I suspect that many of us would not be so keen to post our bargains/ glitches and offers here on such a regular basis.
I do sometimes read the other thread/ and have once or twice posted there and I know that it is in the main very harmonious
and used by a regular group of kind and friendly posters,
but I for one do not wish to discuss my personal life on the internet, in an open forum to that degree.
So now I don't know where I should or will be posting.....I think many of us will feel the same.
No offence mean't to any one who enjoys these sort of posts...but it isn't for me and i must admit that I have enjoyed using and posting on 'this' thread.
People on this thread do chat a little, telling us of their fun days out, sometimes mentioning their DS/ OH/DD,
some times giving us a hint of how they are feeling/ or what they are coping with, etc, we are after all only human.
I know we all like go a bit off topic at times, but in the main, I think that the little bit of chat we have,
helps the thread flow more easily.
For example: People posting shopping lists helps other shoppers to get bargains, tells people which
coupon works on which item, etc, etc.
If all I see/ or post here is along the lines of...
....Will you all cut the chat, just post the bargains and tell all us (irregular/ or non forum posting members)
how we can get on with it and pick up bargains we have not ourselves found,
(with no thanks to the people who have found them)
...then I will be a very sad little teddy indeed.:(
This is only my opinion...and it only means a lot to me...but I like harmony...bargains and a little boots related banter.:)0 -
Evening all
I think that I have come across somebody who has asked to do a swap and failed to send what they promised in return...
This is the second time that this has happened to me...Im begining to loose faith....Im thinking we should start to publicly name and shame these people...who ruin the spirit of our board.
Im not a happy person as you can imagine.

Goodness knows, I had over 50 kind souls send things in the end, it was an unbelievable response and I have lots of finishing touches for the next lot I do for their sale next time. I wrote down all the names, what they were sending etc and then sent a pm thanking the senders when the items arrived
I can not remember who the person was(or was it two  ) who's parcel failed to turn up and the list went into the recycling a long time ago.
I'm sure Nuninge would be able to remember though
I shall send her a pm asking, to save clogging the thread up0 -

As the title says, I'm very confused (and it does not take much these days) are we still posting on here as we were - but trying to keep the type of post that I am posting at present - at bay? There was a new thread for 'chat about anything' - now I can't find it
Are we meant to be on the Refugees thread?
I have only been a Bootsers on the boards since end of October last year and although I have looked in on the Refugees board a few times, I feel a bit like i'm intruding by reading that thread as everyone 'knows' each other so well.
That most probably seems very silly - but it's just how I feel. I'm gonna pop in over there now though and I'll see how it goes.

That will change easily enough if people take this opportunity to go over there now and do the boots chat.0 -

Totally agree with everything here. Not into facebook and similar. My personal life is just that, personal, but may from time to time let the odd comment slip when posting my day's success.
Re store name, I thought this had already been discussed, at length, that as Mr B & staff read this thread, we needed to disguise a little. However, as a newbie I am still learning as I go, BUT everything I have learnt so far has been from the lovely people here. Like many, I love the humour of SS - reminds me of a sadly gone great aunt - but have also been very grateful for the generosity of those who have sent me their ACM slips as I wasn't getting them, the brag books from 'passion8', AgathaMisty's advice, as she lives near me, and the offer from a Nicci to try and get a golf set for me, as none in a very large area of me. All and many more of you are real angels :A sorry that not listed everybody in full, but you know who you are and have been thanked, so hope ok.
What I am trying to say, from a newbie sort of way, is that this thread seems to be working for us. A bit of chat, now and then especially with the stresses of life at the moment, is surely ok. Pruning things back to the bare bone can only serve to stop these glitches even quicker than they are at the moment? I look forward to reading others take on this, after all it is our thread.....thank you for reading my waffle! :rotfl:0 -
Surely if we use just one thread for glitches alone, then they will be picked up even quicker than they already have been by Mr B's spys?
I know the pages of chat can be hard to scroll through if you dont have much time, but they do hide the glitches and a lot of people enjoy reading them (myself included).
Maybe one way of shortening the thread would be to not fully quote really long posts, as that can sometimes be a bit tiresome. Just a suggestion.0 -
I bought 4 gillette shave foams yesterday for 23p each and then drove 25 miles away to a different store 2day and they had the same gillette reduced aswell
Think you must be right just reduced in random stores.
I picked up one of these (SEL £1.79) and went to pharmacy (thought I'd be safe there) for a price check - the girl said "errr ... 23p? That can't be right - I'll go and ask the manager". A few minutes later she came back - "it's £1.79. I can't let you have it for 23p, the till is obviously wrong!"
And kept it behind the till! There were two left on the shelf, so I don't know if they removed them - and might possibly have notified HO in order to change the price at the till? Sorry if it was my fault! Did anyone get one at 23p this afternoon?

Only mags that ive found locally have been at the Fort.
Big thanks to whoever mentioned getting the No7 nail file/buffer pack free with the perkie as have enough lotions and potions.
Lastly searched for the Extracts minis today but couldnt find any-has anyone seen them locally..TIA
O/T- Very new here but just re all the thread business, i think this thread is great but realise it moves quickly and how offers/glitches could be missed by some. Ive only ever popped in to the refugees thread and never posted as tbh i would feel as if i was intruding in a private conversation between friends (please dont think thats a nasty comment-its not-its just that everyone seems very close) Anyway thanks for all the work and comments everyone puts in and if i post the wrong thing in the wrong place, please just tell me...xx0 -
SandraScarlett wrote: »I would willingly do so, but I don't know what the format should be.
I know I'm going to find it very difficult to just post a "shopping list" of my day out, and I love to read of other peeps exploits.
Surely, if we don't discuss potty training, leaving home after a row, messy eating etc on here (must stop describing my DH!) there's no need to complicate things with 2 boards - is there?
If it's felt necessary, then I assume Grabbit posts will just be something like:
Hi. Today I got xyz, couldn't get abc, but managed to find pqr. It costs £x. There's an ACM voucher for Newbie & Silly for 150 points when you buy skin cream.
And that's it, is it?
xx
my thought exactly SS. I don't think I will bother posting anymore:(0
