I use the Liverpool group and its great. I always freecycle stuff my relatives are throwing out. I just give somebody a printer I had no use for... and was surprised to get a lovely thank you email from them, saying how much they are enjoying using it.....makes it all worthwhile when something nice happens like that!

I use the Wirral group. Up to now I have only given stuff away. Haven't got a car so can't collect items offered that I'm interested in.
I do see some things 'wanted' that I would like myself but wouldn't have the cheek to ask for - greenhouse, polytunnel etc. Some greedy people might give the site a bad name.
A woman came to collect an item from me ,said she worked for a charity but I recognised her face - she was a trader at the local flea market. She didn't get my item.
:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing

Oooo that's awful. I ask sometimes for things for the charity I work for, but I always take ID with me to prove it.

If what she is doing is outside the rules then I hope you reported it to the freecycle administrator - If so she will be removed from the list of members. Our admin says two stikes and out!

    But

Although she lied to you I'm not sure that it is actually outside the rules? I have seen items Offered with phrases like good for boot sale or ebay sale. So the person offering couldn't be bother to try and sell it themselves but didn't mind if someone else did as long as it was not scraped. Though I can see it might rankle when someone seems to be taking advantage.
  • Hi Snaffler, I discovered freecycle about a month ago and I love it. Such a good way to de-clutter your place and bless someone else's!
