The number of wanted posts can be regulated by your community moderators etc... We had a warning on our site that the wanted ads were taking the mick. One woman put separate ads in wanting, a NEW bathroom suite, kitchen, carpets etc etc It took the mick really! Its calmed down now. Maybe your local mods could take a leaf out of ours book?0

Hi
I think a wanted section can actually reduce the amount of items being posted, because if someone wants a particular item and another person has that item they won't bother adding it to the website.

I see freetocollect has been mentioned a few times on this site. I've had a look at the site, but it seems empty. There are only 83 items on offer in the whole country. Compare this to the average 30 to 40 offers a day I get from my local freecycle groups makes this new site not look so good.
As far as wanted ads go on Freecycle. I suppose each area has different numbers. Some days I notice a few in my two local groups, but the majority of ads are always offers. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You keep posting on the freecycle threads advertising a site in the same vein. Most of your posts have already been removed because it looked like you are spamming the boards with only one link to the same site. It looks like you are advertising your own site, which is against the rules of this site.
Your site currently has 92 items on offer in the whole country. I have had more offers than this in the last few days from my two local Freecycle groups (both less than 5 miles from me).
I know which site I will continue using.
Further than this................
The site you are advertising is illegal. To contact someone with an item, you have to give your email address and name. This is classed as personal information. EVERY SITE in the UK that asks for personal information MUST BY LAW publish a proper privacy policy informing us what the info is used for and whether it is used for advertising (and offer an opt out if they do), this includes telling us if cookies are used on a site, and what they are used for. There is no such policy on this site. The few lines written under privacy policy in no way cover your legal responsibilities. You can be reported to the Information Commissioners office for breaking this law.
I would warn other users to be wary of entering their email address on this or any site that doesn't have a proper privacy policy.
Your posts have been reported to abuse. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I'm a bit annoyed with Freecycle at the moment.
Someone listed a wanted request for an item I have and no longer want. I sent her an e-mail saying she could have it, and cleaned the item up ready for her to collect. She sent me an e-mail back saying 18 miles is too far away for her to drive through and collect it, so could I drop it off for her instead. I replied and said it wasn't possible as it was out of my way, and now she's got all stroppy with me because I won't deliver it. What a cheek!
To be fair, the other people who I have given to or taken from have been really nice and friendly. Here I go again on my own....0 -

report her to the administrator! That's well out of order - people are supposed to collect in the first instance, you only deliver if it's more convenient for you, which this clearly isn't.
You could do without hassle from someone you were trying to help out. Definitely report her.0
