How do you actually navigate the site? All I seem to get is links to other sites, like with google.

Do you have to register with freecycle because I can't seem to find any of the stuff (offered or wanted) anymore?

I actually own and run one of the Freecycle sites, part of the world-wide Freecycle network. If you need any advice just ask...they are great for both giving and receiving.

I'm a bit annoyed with Freecycle at the moment.

Someone listed a wanted request for an item I have and no longer want. I sent her an e-mail saying she could have it, and cleaned the item up ready for her to collect. She sent me an e-mail back saying 18 miles is too far away for her to drive through and collect it, so could I drop it off for her instead. I replied and said it wasn't possible as it was out of my way, and now she's got all stroppy with me because I won't deliver it. What a cheek!

To be fair, the other people who I have given to or taken from have been really nice and friendly.

This is totally wrong. If this had happened on my site, as a moderator of behaviour like this, I would have 'warned' the member and removed and banned her should she repeat this inappropriate conduct. Try not to let it colour your judgment of Freecycle. Freecycle groups are made up of members and how they run, how successful they are all depends on the members etc. You get good and bad apples in all walks of life, Freecycle is no different. I remember a few weeks ago, something came through on my site which I wanted - perk of being the owner is I get to approve all postings prior to them going out to the rest of the members (to stop spamming, bad languarge, bad behaviour etc.) and thus get to see the odd bargain ;) and when I e-mailed the guy and asked him if I could have 'it' when we were discussing where we both lived, he offered to deliver it to my town to me as he passed on his way to work etc. Most members are like this. I had something up and a lady wanted it, but was going away on vacation so could not collect it. I saved it for her and delivered it to her when she returned. All part of the service :D but not everyone can do that.

Another tip is to join neighbouring groups, I am member of 3 and own and run one. I get lot's of goodies :T

Yes, you have to sign up to be a member before you can participate. Group activities are private to non-members. If you join up, you will receive e-mail notifications *depending on your preferences* of what is available.
