Thanks for the heads-up. I must admit I've been guilty of this once myself - not to scrape the cash out, I hasten to add, but to motivate me to actually post the reviews that I'd been drafting all week. I tend to spend hours on one review and find that a to-do list helps me to work with more focus; that's just the way I am.
However, I can now see that it must look really bad if someone writes on DFW/MFW "I'm going to make myself write 3 dooyoo reviews today". I'll make sure I don't do this in future, as it suggests to people reading the site that all you need to do is churn out 3 a day. I give about 30% more ratings than I receive and also leave as many comments as I can. The community aspect is now more important to me than how many miles I've racked up. I would hate to think I'm helping to encourage MSE readers to churn out substandard reviews. So I'll stop the to-do lists0 -

I think you're right. Most people do post these 'to do' lists as a form of self motivation and nothing more. It can give a false impression of the site, I suppose.
MSE is clearly responsible for a lot of the new churners but it has been responsible for a lot of very good writers and community members too. I count myself amongst the numbers (as well as some regular contributers to this thread) and yes, sometimes, I force myself to write which, bizarrely, has led to most of my crowns! The shorter reviews that I've rattled off because I haven't written anything for a week or so seem to get crowned more often than reviews that I've slaved over. Typical!
I just wish the Dooyoo section of the most recent MSE article had given a bit more detail about how to use Dooyoo effectively (rather than emphasising writing 150 words to earn 50p.) Dooyoo's terms and conditions make it clear that reviews that just scrape past the minimum word count count as abuse. Unfortunately, people taking the article's advice at face value are more likely than most to be found guilty of Dooyoo abuse and have their accounts locked. This doesn't look good for either MSE or Dooyoo.
Just as an aside, please remember to take any issues with Dooyoo policy or individual members to Dooyoo directly, rather than naming and shaming on this thread.0 -
I've just seen somebody on dooyoo that joined on the 24th May and they have written 159 reviews. That is crazy. I don't understand how somebody can physically write that many reviews in that amount of time, it's almost 20 reviews a day! Think happy & you'll be happy

I have to say that I'm really starting to get disillusioned with Dooyoo. My most recent review took almost twenty minutes to get one read due to the churners hogging the "newest reviews" page. It's almost as if MSE deliberately time these announcements to regenerate interest in Dooyoo just as we've educated (or gotten rid of) the last intake of money-grabbing scumbags.
Those new stats are just ridiculous too.
Ooooh! Someone's been given 500 VU rates!
Shocking.
I would really appreciate it if Dooyoo would do something about this. Why pay churners money for nowt, but good writers stop earning after 6 months?
I'm really not impressed with Dooyoo at the moment. :mad:0 -
I know what you mean CF, it's really annoying.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0

I'm also not very impressed. I've reported quite a few members to dooyoo for abuse recently so I hope that helps but it seems like they just keep coming. I'm pleased to find so many good new members who write good reviews and rate a lot of other people but there are so many more who just write rubbish (or in one recent case the same review in several similar categories) and don't bother to rate unless it's revenge rating.
I was pleased to hear earlier in this thread that dooyoo had actually been closing accounts. My experience with dooyoo (which I consider more reliable than someone I've never spoken to posting on an internet forum) suggests that the user got banned for abuse so at least it means that dooyoo are doing something. They must be quite overwhelmed with all the new members, same as we are so I think we should give them a chance to sort things out.
I wish I could filter out all new members when I look at the new reviews page. Harsh, I know, but I'm missing a lot of review from people who I like.0 -
Hi- was just wondering if it's standard to comment/rate everyone's reviews who have done the same to you?! It all feels a bit fake0

I tend to look through their list of reviews to see if theres anything which interests me to read - generally there is and I'll read it. But the best way is simply to keep looking through the new reviews list for what interests you and check those in your COT fairly regularly for new reviews you might want to read. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

When it comes to reading, I have a few rules:
1. Only read stuff in which you're interested.
2. You should be giving out more reads than you receive.
Apart from that, fill your boots. I know some people only read those that read them, but I agree with you, I think it's fake and I think these members are a bit selfish and don't see the big picture. If you only read stuff in which you're interested (i.e. you know about the subject or have an interest in learning about the subject), then I believe that also gives your rates more value.
Arguably, #2 is much more important than #1, but it's not difficult to conform to both. Others will have their own ideas about rating.0
