Is the Boots over 60 10% discount for health products only? I thought it was but i keep reading on here that it includes things like their makeup and creams?

The 10% discount covers ALL Boots own-branded products hethmar.

Just been in our local Boots this morning and saved a small fortune by buying their own stuff rather than other branded products. In most cases the Boots versions are at least as good as, and usually cheaper even before discount, than trade names.

Oh brilliant. So No. 7 stuff covered then? Do you just use your normal boots card as I havent received a different one since the girl filled in the form for me?
  • I'm confused about the Boots Card too. I'm sure we were told we would get another card for the over-60s discount?

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I just kept the same card but the 10% discount automatically comes off the bill at the till.

And it works at UK airport duty frees too - but the prices are the same as high street shop prices IIRC. (It nevertheless is useful if you want to buy toiletries which you can't take past security on your way in.)

Re the http://www.seniorsdiscounts.co.uk webpage. I subscribed and found that they have very little to offer in the Scotland/Glasgow area, and I was disturbed to discover my login password displayed on their members webpage - surely this sould be omitted, or displayed as *** asterisks and only confirmed in the welcome email. The site is not secure enough for me - we all have to be careful of who sees what nowadays!
And I noticed it tracks when you click through to other sites and their offers - and no mention of that on the home page.

Apart from the obvious financial rights my OH gets now he is 65 is there any other benefits regarding dentist/opticians etc.

Free sight tests every two years (applied from age 60 though). Could be more frequent if the optician recommended it.

    Nothing re dentist AFAIK.

Inspired by the "Great 'What discounts can I get now I'm over 60?' Hunt", and now that the big five-0 is on the horizon for me, what discounts have others found for those age 50 and over?
