Just found this post...I am so sorry for your loss. I swear if I could get my hands on the b*stard that did that, he'd be no trouble to anyone after I was through with him...there is absolutely no excuse for his behavior and he's a sorry excuse for a human being. Ugh.

I was devastated enough when one of my dogs was run over a few years ago - luckily my boy survived and still gets a Christmas card every year from the driver who (accidentally) hit him.

I have just talked about this post with an ex RSPCA inspector and they have said that the police are definately the way to go.

I am with the OP 100% and think this man is scum but... legally if the cat was killed instantly then there was no suffering so even if the RSPCA got it to court there would unlikely to be a severe penalty. Police have the options of 'criminal damage' etc to pursue which given the circumstances of the case and the effect on the OP as the victim are likely to result in a more serious sentence if it gets to court

Also if he is successfully prosecuted his name and street will appear in the local newspaper, which will then be noted and acted upon from animal rights activists

If the animal rights activists acted in an illegal way I am sure they would be dealt with in the courts in the correct manner.

Bit concerned not to have heard any more from the OP?

I was thinking - if the bloke who did it cant be found - no witness coming forward - perhaps a good ruse would be to contact the local paper for a witness to the horrific act - giving details of where and when. This will certainly cause a few people's consciences to itch and also cause the bloke who did it some aggro as the rest of the men wouldnt want to be thought of as suspects.

It means that a minority of animal activists tend to go a bit overboard sometimes and should the guy be prosecuted and a court decide has fate and then animal activists take further action agasint him that they stay within the law. If they go outside the law they should be dealt with by the courts in the same way.

So stevetodd was yet another person advocating violence on this thread?

Or am I getting it wrong?
