bear1 wrote:How can it be that the SEL makes no difference to what you are charged at the till because it is only an indication of what you should be charged? So basically you are saying - SEL says 19.97, this is the indication of what the price should be, item goes through the till at 22.97, oh dear only £3 out, but this is o.k because the SEL was only an indication not a correct price??!?!?!?
Please dont misquote me. I didn't say that it is ok for anyone to be overcharged, i said that the SEL is an indication of what you SHOULD be charged at the till. It should always be the correct price hencespa2k wrote:it is then the pricing integrity departments job to ensure that the labels match the system
Redhot, the only differences in offers that i am aware of are :
Metro and express stores sometimes have fewer or different offers
Extra stores often have more offers due to bigger range.
BOGOF offers are pretty much universal across the stores, obviously i dont know all the offers for all the stores but the majority of promotions are company wide.
I've seen alot mentioned about this hula-hoops debacle but am completely in the dark about it all, in our store (up untill last week anyway) there was no offer on them.....Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

bear1 wrote:As previously said, this DOES happen because the stores don`t want to have to do further r&r, i obtained an r&r for the hula hoops which did not go through at two for 2.50 at one Tesco`s, they removed the offer straight away, when i visited a few days later the offer was still off, but in another Tesco just down the road the hula hoops were on offer two for 2.50. So this is clear that the first store kept the offer off and reverted them back to 1.68 a packet to prevent further r&r`s on them. I even told another lady who was about to buy them when i was in the first store after they removed the offer, " i would`nt buy them here, they are on offer two for 2.50 at the other Tesco`s!!!!!!!!!!!! She was quite surprised that they could be selling them at different prices, but she put them back and off she went.
It's interesting to know that stores in other areas do this also - i think it is to prevent further r&rs despite what mr t employees have to say.:rotfl:Red Hot by name, Red hot by nature. :rotfl:0 -

Did you actually purchase them at 2 for £2.50 in the second store? No store has the athorisation or ability to delete / add / change promotions or prices at will...it simply cannot happen. I would suggest that the second store was unaware that the promotion was not working and therefore still had the promo material displayed....it isnt a case of stores removing things from promotion or changing prices, it is that the general assistant has printed out a correct label that shows that the promotion advertised was wrong.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

It is indeed to prevent further misprices....would you rather the incorrect label was left displayed and other people were sold goods under the impression that they would get an offer that was not working?
Surely it is in everyones interest to remove the incorrect label and put out one that reflects the true price of the product.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

well ok then. I think my two local stores are similar, but still for whatever reason there are differences -to be honest i didn't even know the r&r policy existed until browsing mse - i am suprised though at how often i am overcharged (without looking for misprices), but it isn't tesco alone that does this i have also been overcharged at morrisons and asdas. I think generally people reading this thread are generally alot more aware of pricing, policies and being more finicially sassy is great. :j:rotfl:Red Hot by name, Red hot by nature. :rotfl:0 -

In principle i agree with the above statement spak2 but only incases where tescos intended price is the one on whichever sel is present, not when they remove the sel because the price hasn't been updated on the system to reflect the current price - don't you think????:rotfl:Red Hot by name, Red hot by nature. :rotfl:0 -
i reckon the meat is well worth watching now that the first weeks supplies have gone. when the offer first kicked off - everything and i mean everything in my local stores was spot on. alot of effort had gone into making sure the stocked was correctly reduced. But one week one and alot of new stock arriving which has not been flashed / stickered with discount, is getting plonked down next to old stock and as old / offer sels are still in place, it's freebies a plenty. no point in boring you with details of products i got as sels were removed instantly and it seems to be different stuff depending on individual store. :j i feel like chicken tonight (and the next night...) :jcredit card debt at LBM Nov 2006 £11,300:eek:

The price on the system IS the current price...turn it around for a second, if the price on the SEL said £1.59 and you were charged .59p would you demand that the system was updated to show the price that is on the label....i know i wouldn't.
The cases you are correctly pointing out as being wrong look like instances where the SEL's havent been updated in a timely manner - for whatever reason.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Surely though if ther is a yellow sign that says there is an offer on and the expiry date at the bottom is two weeks time, Mr T was planning on offering them at the reduced price. Therefore one can only assume that the price going through the till is incorrect.0

sure this one has been answered before but can't find the OP. recently had R & R from tesco and was asked to fill in my name and address on receipt slip when they gave me the refund. Just wondering why shops do this, are they "allowed to do it" and am I obliged to fill it in? I did fill it in this time - bogus details of course!!! they aint putting my name on a list. another point on this one... if you use a clubcard, and it's registered with your name and address on it, and you get the points when you shop for your R & R stuff, they will be able to check on your clubcard record, all the R & Rs you have had. Am i right?credit card debt at LBM Nov 2006 £11,300:eek:
