This can happen on a package design change for example where the new design though the same product has a different barcode and not set up to work in the offer"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -

Tesco Rochdale, I spent £51.43, but used SAINSBURY'S spend £50, get £10 off hence paid £41.43. Got r+r on 4 x 4.99 beef joints and 3 x £1.69 on baking potatoes, r+r £25.03, total spend £16.64 LOL. Has anybody ever got back more than they spend by using vouchers?
Hi can i ask where you got the sainsbury voucher? Ive bought the mag before but i can never find £xx off £xx spend vouchers?
Also i once used loads of vouchers on a shop and then got and R&R and ended up about £2 in profit. The CS guys never seem to look at the bottom of the reciept where the vouchers are!:dance:0 -
I get the Sainsbury's vouchers thru the post about 3 times per year. I guess its cos of Nectar points?Don't waste your words I don't need,
Anything from you.
I don't care where you've been or,

I did, needed to use up a £10 off £50 spend so bought a coat for £50 in Tesco and and then took it back, like someone else said, they don't take any notice of the receipt just the cost of the item they are crossing out.Like my avatar, took the photo myself with the free digital camera I bought from boots with all my free points! We have 8 different price bands to reflect such things as tough trading area, size store, ie 2000 sq foot store needs to be higher priced to achieve break even compared with the larger 20000+ stores. We even charge more in afluent areas (though i dont agree with that price policy). So it is likely you will get different priced goods depending on which shop you go to. But is the cost of you travelling to a cheaper price banded store worth it??
The only supermarket chain that i am aware of that dont use price banding and play a level field between all their stores is Waitrose but with their high prices i am supprised any one shops there.
This is correct most of the big supermarkets charge different prices depending on size and location Tesco Asda and Sainsbury do this regular However Morrisons is another that charges the same price in Milton Keynes as it Does in Consett
Also the System price IS the correct price however certain conditions may upset the apple cart so to speak as a manufacturer sends in a "flashed price pack" which may be different to the system price0 -
Saban wrote:Hi OddFellow thanks for you post and first let me say i agree with you.
But, even though there is a central computer i cant imagine every price is exactly the same through-out the country? Id guess that some products are dearer in central London than they are in the north?
I live about 30mins from London and when i visit i can see quite a few price flucuations, in quite a few different stores as well as Tesco.
Maybe this is what causes some of the local mis-prices?
Just a thought!
Yes, you may well me right though I have no evidence to say that either of us are. I am aware of seeing higher prices on some things in tesco Metro stores, but this is at casual glancing rather than studying.
I think what causes mis-prices (in any direction) is incompetence. Whether the incompetence is at store level or national level, it would all seem to be incompetence. And I am sure that the incompetence exists at all levels and if it starts high, how can they expect people below them to do anything but follow suit?0 -

As I am well aware in my business, people will pay for quality.
That's why there are plenty of Mercedes out there. Now, a modern merc may be a really nice car, but the fact is that it's probably got the build quality of a Ford or a VW. However, the price tag, the image and the marketing says that it's way better than either of these. That's why people shop in Waitrose. Also, not to do down Waitrose at all, I firmly believe that its own branded goods are of a superior quality to similar products in more mainstream shops.0 -

For the most part i agree with you, however i do have a degree of sympathy for the poor assistants that have to change all those darn labels and pos material. The number of labels that need changing in a week is simply astounding and although it shouldn't happen it it totally understandable when a few go astray.
That said, there is no excuse for some of the misprices that i have seen mentioned on these boards.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
