I thought you might be interested in how the people at Tesco HO see that matter.
According to my correspondence, following a dispute where two SEL's were displayed, one much higher than the other ( the price I was charged )
.......according to our legal team - as the correct price was on display then the overcharge policy does not apply
They omit to tell me why they had two on display.
Does anyone know for sure the real law on this. Lots of people have strong views about it, but are we legally right?
What UTTER, UTTER GARBAGE.
As already posted above, there is plenty of law that covers this.
In addition to the recent postings, the Price Marking Order 2004 (http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2004/20040102.htm) deals with this.
The Tesco legal team are talking out of their !!!!!!.0 -

Exactly. As I anticipated. I would have welcomed the oportunity to demonstrate the law at the Small Claims Court but the store decided to settle the r&r independently of HO following a letter stating the above.
It seems Tesco are prepared to ride rough shod over customers rights and ignore their own policy and promise as well as the law of the land.
When I spoke to TS about the issue they couldn't believe Tesco had argued against it, saying it seemed cut and dried, a mistake they had made and covered by the laws mentioned.
Just makes you wonder which law books their lawyers read.0 -
I had an incident recently, where the price of a dvd was shown as two different prices, I was told by the "duty manager" that as the correct price was shown in store they were not obliged to give r & r (although he was quite happy for me to have it at the lower price). I opted for a refund.
Also, that the "store manager" did not agree with the r & r policy.
I contacted ho and was told that I should have had a r & r and that in future should insist that they contact ho in such cases.
Needless to say, I went in there the following week every day looking for r & rs which were advertised on here and managed to get some every day.
I bet he wished hed given me that r & r!!!!0 -

I totally agree....but......
.......earlier in this or the previous discussion thread Tesco HO specifically stated that with 2 SELs they did not have to honour R&R.
Also earlier in this thread Mr T was clearly shown to track R&Rers via their Clubcard.......
....a few pages ago some Dude stated they were happy that this was not the case........
Who knows?

I really think it is down to each individual member of staff, some are quite happy to do a r & r others wont its as simple as that.
I was in Tescos today and the cashier told me that if they are caught selling alcohol to under 18s then they are individually fined, and that comes out of their wages!!0 -
Hi. I'm new to this Tesco mispricing thing and would really appricate it if someone could explain how I go about finding these items please :j
I know the SEL is the price on the shelf, so what do I compare this to to see if they are different? I realise you can self scan, but surely you can't try everything in the store to check it's priced right?! Do you just read this board to see what others managed to get so you can try them?
I'm confusedPlease can someone explain to this newbie how it works. I want some free stuff
Thanks in advance, you lot are great :TProud to be a MoneySaver!

Banned from my local Tesco!
Went to claim a R+R for an overcharge this evening. Customer Services first offered me the difference, but then when I challenged them with the R+R policy, they said they would have to call the manager.
The manager came over, says she has seen me before trying to claim refunds for other items, and that shedoes not the like the way I shop.
She then goes on to advise me that I am now banned from the store as a result!.
What can or should i do?. Please help0 -
As i was paying for a DVD recorder at the checkout today, the checkout girl asked me for my name & address.I said "why do you need that?",she replied "we HAVE to do it for TV licencing purposes".She was sympathetic but said "we have no choice",i duly supplied a false name & addy.I must add the DVD was soon to be a R&R,but this had no bearing on her request, & the CS were excellent & R&R with no problems whatsoever.I do have a licence,i just objected to giving my name&address, prob R&R paranoia

Not sure what you can do other than try shoppin elsewhere - (If I was banned from my local, I'd have a choice of at least 3 more Tescos alone and another 3 express ones!) :T
Maybe that's no choice at all0
