Went to claim a R+R for an overcharge this evening. Customer Services first offered me the difference, but then when I challenged them with the R+R policy, they said they would have to call the manager.
The manager came over, says she has seen me before trying to claim refunds for other items, and that she
She then goes on to advise me that I am now banned from the store as a result!.
What can or should i do?. Please help
Sadly i would have thought there is little you can do,MR T can ban you for any reason he wishes.0 -

by law, every retail establishment selling tv's, video's, dvd's etc must supply the purchasers name and address to the TVLA. This is a legal requirement. Usually if you use your clubcard the information is taken from that.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Its the law the shop has to fill it in or thy are liable to prosecution.. It is to help catch out licence dogers.
What tv licensing can do now is trace that the address is false, request the stores audit rolls and get your card details from that and then get the address from the card provider.
Why bother filling in false details when you have nothing to hid "Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -

I didnt realise it was the law,i just objected to giving my details.I paid with cash & didnt use my clubcard.I didnt realise it applied to dvd recorders in any case,i have nothing to hide & will give the correct details if the same scenario ever crops up again.Just for the record, what happens if you are buying a dvd rec for a present to someone else?.0 -
-=Mr-J=- wrote:Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe manufacturer packaging prices, where cheaper, override a retailers price. Thought I had read this somewhere.
An example could be the x24 coke packs. Diet was marked £6.95, but ordinary was marked £6.75. An across the board eSEL for coke might read £6.95, hence an overcharge and respective r+r.
You seem to have contradicted your self here. If a product comes in flashed at a lower price (as there is no point promoting them at a higher retail) you are therefore not being overcharged.
AS for the example you have quoted above i cannot see any over charge as the 6.75 but be less than the price advertised.
aaahhh I have just understood what you are trying to drive at and no it is not possible with any of the major chains to do this. for two reasons each product has its own SEL. And all price marked stock has a different barcode to regular stock, manufactures inform the respective buyers of the promo flash price and barcode and then this is loaded onto the computer system. Otherwise the product will just not scan."Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -

Doesnt matter so long as the details that are given have a licence registered"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -

Make sure you have the managers details.
Write to head office and compalin about the way you have been treated and that you have been made to feel like a criminal in front of the entire store and now reel humiliated and also wish to know why you have been banned.
You should also state that you were excersising your rights has you had noticed that you had been over charged for several item. (in this case it seems you didnt get your refund) so state you will be taking this issue up with trading standard with a veiw to taking legal action. After all you were excersising your consumer rights having been overcharged and point out you were following tescos policy on this. May also be prudent to suggest that this will also be taken to the papers ( the hate bad press)
Just because you check what you purchase and have a good memory for the SEL price is not your fault
Yes they can ban you for no reason but they are unlikely to follow this up if you go back into the store, they are unlikely to recognise you. Lets face it 1 face out of 100000 that visit every week.
Depending on which company you complain to, ie my company automatical issue gift vouchers an d a letter of appology, i have seen these issued to know shop lifters which got my back up. The store manager still told them they werent welcome and pushed them out of the door. :rotfl:"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -
Thanks for you help zorber.
Your right, I did feel humiliated and embarrased, and I did feel like I was being treated like a criminal and shown the door.
The lady at CS was lovely though. Before the manager came over to speak to me she said she expected they'd just give me the refund. I was not expecting what happened though.
I will do what you suggested, and keep you updated.
Thanks again,

just a quick question really, i am new to all this but how do i know what it will scan at?
are you guys just looking at the offers hung up etc (yellow signs) and what if they actually charge you the lower price? are you stuck with the item?
for example if i went in tomorow and bought 2X 14" tv's because the yellow sticker says £47 and the rice tag says £49 but then i get to the till and it says £47.....what do i do? i am stuck with 2 tv's i dident want, lol how do you find out the scan price ? is there any way to know?
can someone who has used this method please pm me and give me more info on how to do it what to look for etc?
i am just worried about getting stuck with loads of stuff i dident want in the first place, lol
