Bought Whitney Houston cd stickered £8.87 scanned £17.97 today. Went to CS for my R&R and the lady got out their newly printed laminated guidelines that have just been given to them a couple of days ago. She told me about stickered products wrongly priced cannot be R&R but refunded and sold back to you at the lower price.
I told her that the blue sign behind her didn`t clarify that and asked to see the manager, the duty manager confirmed that it is an error not an overcharge. Seems like they are really clamping down now.
Do you think it is just my local store that have implemented these printed guidelines ?
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't their policy state if you are charged a price more than shown on the shelf OR the product?? So, if there's a sticker on the product, to me that means they need to R & R or change their signs?0 -
I've just had a look at their website and the R & R policy has not been changed.

ACTUALLY i realise that spak2 but the products i mentioned were not pre- priced - there was no price on the product, a poster, the shelf or anywhere to be seen, and some of them were the products previously mispriced - so how would you explain that then!!!!!!!!!!!! And of course removing labels is a way of preventing r&r -thats why the minute someone r&r's at CS they go and remove the sel.:rotfl:Red Hot by name, Red hot by nature. :rotfl:0 -

I don't know whether this is the wording they've always used on the website, but it is slightly different from the wording on the posters in store. To my mind, the posters are clearer as they specifically say on the product or on the shelf, whereas this just says "if you are overcharged"...
Perhaps more experienced R&Rers can comment?0 -

This is right, when i got a tecknika 103 dvd player from Tesco the sel had 17.97 on it but from posters (people on here) saying it was scanning at 19.97 i gave it a go, and it went through at 19.97, as soon as i got r&r they took sel off completely, and there was no price under this product for three weeks after! This means as they were going through the till at 19.97 they obviously did not want to keep the 17.97 price up as there may have been further r&r`s, but this is wrong as the customers should obviously have been able to buy it for 17.97 but if somone went to ask the price of it they would be told 19.97 as that is what it would scan at. There is now an sel under the product again after three weeks and again it is 17.97. Don`t know if i is price it is scanning now or not, my guess it is correct.0 -

Why is this wrong?
There are no moral issues here and the legal situation is perfectly clear.
A retailer is within their rights to sell an item that does not have a price shown for it. A customer has to decide whether or not they wish to buy it.
If a retailer removes a price (for whatever reason), the customer is at liberty to ask the price, with a view to making decision about a purchase.
Only if more than one price is shown does the situation become contentious as the lower price must be charged by law. However, the retailer is under no obligation to sell the item to you.
No, the customer should not have "obviously" been able to buy the item at £17.97. Using this arguement, would you claim the same if the price was reduced?0 -

Jesus, are they still getting this one wrong? It's ancient.
However, I have noticed that they seem to care a lot less about stickered products. I had three of these books from the same store over a few weeks - because I could, not becuase it's a terribly good book.
The point is that the overcharge was pointed out to them on three separate occasions and they did nothing about it. Only when I reported it to Trading Standards did someone seem to take notice.
On a similar note, the St Neots Store did nothing about the Neil Cross book, "Heartland", recently. Stickered at £2.96 and charged at £3.97 (approx), I had one whilst passing through on one day and whilst travelling past three days later, I had another.
I think the point is that, because it's an obvious error and they don't need to check the shelves, little notice is paid to putting in a report on it and so !!!!!! all is done to prevent further illegal acts of overcharging.
This is grossly negligent.
So, if anyone is near St Neots and fancies a Free paper back, there's a reasonable chance that you'll still find this overcharge taking place.0 -

Athlete - Tourist - SEL £8.97 - Scanned £9.77
Whitney (Houston) - The Greatest Hits - SEL £8.97 - Scanned £17.29
Hi,
I can't seem to find Whitney Houston at a couple of stores I've been to. Is it in the chart or reduced area or just with the range CDs?
Thanks in advance
