master_of_puppets wrote:does anybody know if you can use sainsburys £8 of a £80 shop at tesco.com on groceries like you can in store?
also if you can use manufactures coupons too and give them to the driver when you pay.
another thing!
do tescos relay all prices to the stores from head office electronicly,or does each store manually change the prices when there is sale/special offer.- that is if peterborough branch had an incorrect sel to till price, would all branches be the same?
Prices are sent down centrally & its those changes that trigger new shelf edge labels to be printed. Several safeguards are in place to ensure the right labels get put out. There are times when all stores have the same problem like the mobile phone leaflet but normally pricing problems are limited to individual stores when someones missed a shelf edge label.0 -

I got a DVD player today in Haslingden (SEL removed), I was also wondering which near Manchester store you were treated like that in. I'll take a wild guess at Oldham?
In my experience Bury are quite awkward at R&Rs, especially on meat etc.0 -
I can concure with the Bury statement - CS made me wait for over 45 minutes one afternoon.
I wouldn`t have minded but I had my 2 young children with me (5 & 8 - strange names I know) and I thought that such a length of time was appalling.
I don`t vist that store anymore.
P.s. say hello from me to the bullyboy security team at Haslingden next time your in;)0 -
on these emails that people got explaining what is an "overcharge" does it state that
1.offers ended not included
2.electricals not included
3.only one item will be refunded(if u have bought 2+)
4.the barcodes have to match
5.posters/leaflets dont count
these are just a few of the so called exceptions to their policy i have been told about and im very interested if they state these when asked?
i personally think if they are going to use these excuses then it should state on the 6ft policy board that terms and conditions apply!!! " i wanna be the minority! " :dance:0 -

I think we've accepted that those are all just BS excuses when they would rather not give the refunds. None of which are the stated company policy. It's about the Tesco CS staff/managers taking it a bit personally and not wanting customers to get something for nothing. This seems to be more apparent when the values are higher. I guess it's tough when you've been on your feet at the CS desk for 4 hours at £5.something an hour and someone wanders in and gets £300 of electronics for free.
In most cases head office will back you up, dont get angry, just be polite and as amiable as possible.0 -

I've never had any problems at the oldham branch (and i've gotten most of my R&Rs there), and realistically i've never had any problems at the huddersfield road branch either, although i've only ever had 1 R&R there and she made me take her to the SEL.
As for the other local tescos, Prestwich are AWFUL at R&R and always try to give you the difference except one nice woman (blonde hair) who actually seems to know the policy without prompting.
Not had any problems at Bury, Rochdale or Haslingden yet.
The biggest problem I had was with Horwich, and the CS woman treated me like scum. I nearly whacked her with the damn TV I was so annoyed. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
grahamfromoldham wrote:HELP...! Earlier today I went to buy a dvd player in a Tesco store nr. Manchester. The price displayed was £27.94. After paying and walking out of the store I realised I had been charged £29.97 so I went back and asked the girl on the till why. She spoke to a manager who told her to refund me the difference but when I pointed out to her the mis-price policy she said she'd get the manager down. She came to speak to me very arrogant and said and I quote " IF YOU THINK YOU ARE WALKING OUT OF MY STORE WITH A FREE DVD PLAYER, ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN". I could'nt beleive she was speaking to me like this and she demanded to take me to where they were on sale. She pointed out that yes, the lower price was on display but also was the higher price too on a shelf above. She said it was an xmas promotion.
I looked, and looked again and realised I had bought them further along the sheves and duly pointed this out to her. I also pointed out to her that the lower price was displayed there to and she told an assistant to refund me the whole lot and for me to keep the player. I also told her that her staff must be incompetent if they have left two older priced SEL's since xmas.
Yes, okay I got a free dvd player..However, I was felt humiliated at the fact she was treating me like a criminal out to get something for nothing and I need MSE advice how I should go about complaining about how she spoke to me. I have tried finding the correct department or phone number to complain to but with little success and wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction...thanks in advance.
Okay for a start, phone Head Office! Well actually is the customer Service centre in Dundee - but everyone thinks it's our Head Office. They can be contacted on 0800 50 55 55.
Also, do you have full names of managers and staff you delt with? As you will need some evidence to back up your claim. For example in the store where I work there is atleast 20 managers! So if you have the full name of the manager that should speed tihngs along a bit.0 -
thanks for everyones advice. I have now managed to obtain an adress for Tesco Dundee and the kind lady in my local store ( not the problem store!) gave me an envelope with the address already printed on it so its now on its way.
Cheers again guys0
