Got R&R on Hula Hoops today. A small Metro, middle-aged women on CS, I knew it would be trouble, LOL! :D

Lots of faffing about checking labels, offering me the difference, which I politely declined, and then she mumbled something along the lines of, "Oh, are we still displaying that?" while looking for the Price Promise sign. She then made a big deal out of phoning the manager/supervisor/whoever (all for the sake of £3-ish) and threw my money at me.

Have a nice day! *sigh*
  • got refused the motorola v220 today displayed as 59.97 in 4 places no less and other phones also with offer sel that ran out on 19/2 ,was told because the offer end date is stated then no policy! headoffice backed up cs and manager. another one bites the dust lol one to tesco :T
 " i wanna be the minority! "
  • Thanks for the info! I don't go to Doncaster or Chesterfield often so can't say how long they have been broken, but it's at least a month. I've only found 1 in the Doncaster Extra which is in the clothing section, and I can't see any mention of another one in the price scanner location thread :(

Doncaster Extra has two scanners - one in the clothing section and the other is over where the pet foods are.

I had a look at that thread, but when I went into my local Tesco, none of the stuff I'd read about on here was mispriced in my store

I just wondered if there was a knack to finding the stuff that has been priced wrong......you feel a bit conspicuous wandering around for an hour and a half, still with an empty trolley cos you can't find anything that you can get ""free"" !!!!

Its not guaranteed that all stores have the same misprices
Its a matter of pot luck, you definitley need to check this website before you go looking around your tesco as you will look really suspicious if you wander round your store picking up things randomly and scanning everything lol!

I know its very time consuming but it has to be done if you want to find a mis-price! i find myself in there hours on end sometimes and time flies so quick! let me know how u get on! good luck! ;)

If Security give you a hard time re misprice ,I would ask them for contact details for their companys Manager. Most of Tesco security are contract and if so the companies name will be somewhere on their uniform ie "securitas" ,contact them with your complaint that you are doing nothing wrong simply taking up your rights as offered by the company.

    A question for Tars.
Do you have insider knowledge on the in-store scanners? One of the Tesco's in Peterborough is a Tesco Extra. I read your post to someone else on this thread about expecting there to be at least 2 scanners in an extra store. How can I locate where one is in this store - apart from the obvious of asking at cs and rousing their suspicion as to my motive.
Can someone please put a picture on this thread of a scanner, so I know what I'm looking for.
    Many thanks

I was passing through here a couple of weeks ago and popped in. I asked staff but was told they didn't have any in this store - seemed very strange to me as it's so big?

Just ask the packing staff if they have a price check machine.

AND THE PLOT THICKENS. Just returned from Tesco's with the Technika DVD player after being overcharged and getting an R&R but not after much bally-hooha from the store manager who told me the policy did not apply to electrical items only food. As i was walking out of the store i went up to customer services desk and asked the girl why the policy does not have
'excludes non-food items' at the end. She told me she thought it applied to everything so she rang the store manager, had a small discussion, then tells me he would like to see me again. I then return back to the electrical section and he passes over the DVD player to me telling me he had not read the policy properly. I personally did not believe him as he did not even apologise and just know he was trying not to give me an R&R. As soon as i get home i ring tesco head office in Dundee and was going to ask why this particular store manager initially told me that refunds were not applicable to electrical items. However before i did that i read out the policy to the lady and asked her if this applied to electrical goods and she told me it only applies to food items. Honestly, at the moment i dont know who is lying, who is telling truth and who is just plain incompetent.

but haven`t we all had enough refunds on electrical items to know that the policy does apply to all things?

Also I have personally heard so many excuses as to not give the refunds that you know when your getting flannel.

Through experiance I now take the line that some you get easily, some you struggle with and some you lose. Then theres the ones where you thank your lucky stars, grab your stuff and run! :)

I have some insider knowledge of the gear because I've worked for Tesco's computer division for some time. Drop me a private message and I'll check tommorow when I'm at work if I can (I'll forget otherwise! I'm busy in the office most days fixing the missprices people post here.... ;) j/k)

Thats curious. I'm surprised the Dundee person said that (I'm not that surprised about the store manager.). I haven't seen anything indicating that its food items only and that would be a strange line for them to try and draw. I mean kitchen roll for example isn't a food item but why the hell not give R&R on that? I'm sure if we weren't giving R&R on electrical items it would be posted all over the policy signage and documentation.
(Takes a moment to remind you that I'm not going to promise I'm 100% right all the time though!)
