Policy applies to electrical items! How do I know? Because I work on Customer Services. Any manager, or staff member who tries to claim otherwise obviously isn't worthy of their job.
Out of interest are all stores now displaying the new-style policy boards? Policy was previously across 2 boards, with the Red strip down the side and 'Every Little Helps' at the bottom. The new policy is now on one pure bleu bord which is a lot more glossy than the previous and of a lighter shade of blue. The space of the other board should now contain a sign which displays Customer Service Desk opening hours and Customer Services telephone number.0 -
Tars wrote:Thats curious. I'm surprised the Dundee person said that (I'm not that surprised about the store manager.). I haven't seen anything indicating that its food items only and that would be a strange line for them to try and draw. I mean kitchen roll for example isn't a food item but why the hell not give R&R on that? I'm sure if we weren't giving R&R on electrical items it would be posted all over the policy signage and documentation.
(Takes a moment to remind you that I'm not going to promise I'm 100% right all the time though!)
The thing is if i ring up tomorrow i'll probably get somebody else in customer services telling me the complete oposite of what i have been told today.0 -

Do you have insider knowledge on the in-store scanners? One of the Tesco's in Peterborough is a Tesco Extra. I read your post to someone else on this thread about expecting there to be at least 2 scanners in an extra store. How can I locate where one is in this store - apart from the obvious of asking at cs and rousing their suspicion as to my motive.
Can someone please put a picture on this thread of a scanner, so I know what I'm looking for.
Many thanks
Last time I was in the Peterborough Extra store at Hampton (in December) I asked a member of staff if there was a scanner. Much to my dismay she asked a group of managers and they said that there wasn't one!
So I'm afraid you are out of luck or see if they now have a self scan till.Keep SmilingSite member number 24

Tars wrote:I'm afraid I couldnt find any details on Chorley. I don't think they have reported it. If you're keen I would suggest pressing them alittle more instore to do something about it. Or contact the customer services helpline as they actually apply alot of pressure on stores if they stores are slacking on things.
I don't think I can really stick my nose in on this to pressure them.
Hi Tars, Thanks for your help Will ring them tomorrow, as i said the guy was really nice even offered to scan an item on the price computers you have dotted around [those that print labels].0 -

does anybody know if you can use sainsburys £8 of a £80 shop at tesco.com on groceries like you can in store?
also if you can use manufactures coupons too and give them to the driver when you pay.
another thing!
do tescos relay all prices to the stores from head office electronicly,or does each store manually change the prices when there is sale/special offer.- that is if peterborough branch had an incorrect sel to till price, would all branches be the same?0 -
HELP...! Earlier today I went to buy a dvd player in a Tesco store nr. Manchester. The price displayed was £27.94. After paying and walking out of the store I realised I had been charged £29.97 so I went back and asked the girl on the till why. She spoke to a manager who told her to refund me the difference but when I pointed out to her the mis-price policy she said she'd get the manager down. She came to speak to me very arrogant and said and I quote " IF YOU THINK YOU ARE WALKING OUT OF MY STORE WITH A FREE DVD PLAYER, ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN". I could'nt beleive she was speaking to me like this and she demanded to take me to where they were on sale. She pointed out that yes, the lower price was on display but also was the higher price too on a shelf above. She said it was an xmas promotion.
I looked, and looked again and realised I had bought them further along the sheves and duly pointed this out to her. I also pointed out to her that the lower price was displayed there to and she told an assistant to refund me the whole lot and for me to keep the player. I also told her that her staff must be incompetent if they have left two older priced SEL's since xmas.
Yes, okay I got a free dvd player..However, I was felt humiliated at the fact she was treating me like a criminal out to get something for nothing and I need MSE advice how I should go about complaining about how she spoke to me. I have tried finding the correct department or phone number to complain to but with little success and wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction...thanks in advance.0 -
