Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 26th February. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning.
Hope everyone is well. I missed a couple of days with a business trip.
Spent a few days in the Birmingham area, Ate at TGI FRidays in Coventry. That was excellent, wish we had one.
Stayed in the Hilton Bromsgrove, which was OK, but at £4 a pint for beer we out in the town, Got a curry and drank cheep beer in a Smith and Jones and watched the footy.
Back now and last day today before 3 days off and then a 2 day course.
Not much new. Weather is boring, no plans and a nagging wife..... Hmmm need a bit more excitement.
Cheers

Off to work again today, but finish early so not too bad, shopping being delivered tonight, and something with chips for tea, fish perhaps.
Thanks for all the advise about the Wii yesterday, I think I am going to go for it, :T , I have a ps2 and use it regularly, but think I might get more use out of a Wii, lets hope OH can get one now  .
Sorry but I am about to have a proud mum moment, we went to dd's parents evening, and she is doing so well :T , I had glowing reports from all of the teachers, and she is being moved up to the top set in french, and her french teacher said that if she were to sit a GCSE now (aged 14) she would pass it with a C grade :j , I am so proud of her, I bought her up on my own for many years, and sometimes we have struggled, and had no money at all, but she has worked so hard, and I am very proud
Ok back to os, we are all off to work with packed lunches, all hm goodies, will shove a wash on tonight when I get back, and have a quick tidy through.
Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx

Hello everybody,
Done something to my back last night. Must have pulled a muscle doing some yard work. Been putting the heat beads & DH has got the job of rubbing stuff in it. Hope it's better by tomorrow as I want to mow the lawn. Made bread & date loaf this morning and got tea organised. Had to go out this arv. While I was out I got a dvd from the library called As Time Goes By. It was recommended on here somewhere. I'm sure they never put it on ABC (our BBC).
Here is the link for the pictures of the cruise. I added a few other ones as I wanted to get prints made of them as well. If you are wondering why their are pictures of tugs, cranes etc it's because I tried to pick ones DGS would like.
Tea tonight is sweet potato, carrot & lentil patties with pesto pasta & salad. Icecream & fruit for dessert. It's blowing a gale here. Hope you have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all,
I've some lentil soup simmering so that's lunch for DH sorted. I'm going to the house to let and finish painting 2 bedrooms, I've done the ceilings so only the walls to do. I wont allow DH to paint coz it looks like he's put it on with a fork, I'm sure he does it deliberately.
HM curry n rice for dinner tonight, don't have time to bake nann so bought some ys that's in the freezer.
The delivery from M/care came y/day how can such a small bundle cost and need so much? Even with the free del code and Quidco the whole lot still came to over £360. Jeeeeeez.
Must sort out sheets and towels for DD2's home birth, wondering how many I'll need. Went ot B&Q for paint y/day and searched for a red lightshade, no luck. Any suggestions as to where to look??
Off to blitz the soup and empty DW and WM and hang clothes on the line, Catch yah later.0 -
Morning
I'm here too!!! I just spotted N9eav appears to have started the daily on the greenfingered board for some reason....?!
I really need to get back to meal planning, just had a look in the freezer to contemplate what we could have for dinner tonight, and there seems to be a whole chicken, a pack of 4 salmon steaks (only 2 of us like them, 2 packs of king prawns (again not popular with everyone), a pack of 2 chicken kievs, and then an assortment of a few chicken dippers, a couple of turkey drummers, a couple of burgers.... Think it may be all the "odd bits" with some chips & beans today as it's one of my typing evenings. It's such a pain only really having one freezer drawer for "dinner stuff" - other 2 are for icecream/bread, and then veggies/chips etc. Seriously need to sort out more freezer space, just no idea where?!
Redruby, well done to your DD - you are very entitled to have a proud mummy moment!!!!
MSD - hope you are ok hun. Reading between the lines of your post it doesn't sound as though all is so good with Tristan? ((hugs))
Lilibet, sausage pasta sounds tasty?!
Aussie, will look forward to having a look at the pics. Is the As Time Goes By the one with Judi Dench? I only ever saw a couple of episodes but it was quite amusing...
Anyways, rapidly heading to 7.30, better get myself up & moving. Feeling slightly less frazzled than at the start of the week but still somewhat stressed at the moment. Roll on mid-May when I finish placement, then 3 weeks after that my whole degree!!
Talking of those MIA I haven't seen Dorry or Scuzz for ages either. I know Dazi pops up every now & then. Hi guys if any of you are lurkingLive your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -

It may also be worth looking at Cardiff gumtree...hth? If you want any knowledge of areas etc just pm me so as not to clog the boards up!!
Also wanted to ask how you make pesto? Does anyone have a yummy recipe?!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
REDRUBY, you must be SOOOOOO proud of your DD's achievments and so you should be. What a little brain box she is. :T :T
AUSSIE, They're excellent photos, hasn't your DGS grown and how come you look younger. Do you have a painting of yourself in the attic?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SMOKY, Hope you spoil yourself, you know you're worth it.

:hello: :hello: Hi Trazy, welcome to the best thread on MSE, be prepared to make lots of friends.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the link to your cruise pics Aussie, do you have to join snapfish first to view the photos as there doesn't seem to be anywhere to click to look at the piccies? You will enjoy As Time Goes By, gentle comedy, well I enjoyed it anyway. Dame Judi and Geoffrey Palmer go well together
The usual drudge today - work - home - cook dinner - aaaaaand relax. Half a day tomorrow and then a week off :j Going to make the most of it as we are moving buildings soon to a bigger library which means they need 2 people on all the time so more hours for me which means more money :j Very grateful for that considering all the redundancies out there at the moment.
Have a good day all0
